Nah West Side Story was actually Spielberg's comeback after a less than stellar decade imo, it was just a masterfully directed musical with great performances all along, also I don't know why people keep calling it a remake, it's just another adaptation of the original play, calling it a remake is like calling Gullermo del Toro's Pinocchio a remake of Disney's

Although i didn't like the last two movies much i still love the idea of spielberg moving into a phase of doing what he loves and reflecting on his career.He is the greatest of all time imo and he can relax and not worry about making a blockbuster hit

Haven't seen the remake from"West Side Story" yet I can see why this amazing characterization, but it happens when times change radically in almost 20 years later, and anyway I feel that all the energy from the "West Side Story" really went into the making of "The Fabelman's", this last one really is all heart, my respects to Spielberg.

Dude the new West Side Story was even better than the first! And this isn’t a generation thing! My mom, who is heavily involved in musical theater totally thought the same thing.
