Retired in 2016, but I been working PRN two days a week since. I have been enjoying my job as a Senior Certified Orthopedic Technologist in the Operating Room. The I love for the past 49 years. But, yesterday the hospital I worked at told all PRN Staff they have to let us go for now. They cancelling all electives Surgeries for now. I don't have to work, but I missed what I do. But, if things get worse I will return without pay. That is how was trained in the Air Force, to served above all other.

Wyoming Medical Center tech here. We've started to look into seamstresses and tailors to make cloth gowns, masks, and possibly drapes. Currently only 18 confirmed COVID-19 cases statewide. The schedule is empty for next week pending emergent surgeries.

Glad to see you and your family are doing okay and are healthy in these trying times! I have been watching your surg tech videos for the past view months and it has continued to encourage me that this is the career I should pursue. I have always been interested in the medical field I am currently in the process of applying for a surgical technology program in my area and have an interview scheduled for next week. I've been taking notes as I watch your videos on the duties and responsibilities of a surg tech and hope I can make an impression on my interview. I hope to see more videos from you even if they are spread out :)

I'm a RN in Washington state. My hospitalist friend is using her painters N95 from home. Same issues here w all masks. I was kind of shocked at the extreme firing on the spot at your hospital. These are desperate times, so I see both sides. Not many kits around here for testing. One ER Dr on a vent in Seattle from Covid, a UW professor died from it yesterday. Just read this evening 2 nursing home pts tested positive in another facility in central Washington. thank you for the update in Nevada.

We haven’t experienced the supply shortage yet. Here in South Texas. But I imagine we’ll start seeing it soon.

My sister works at the hospital in my town (she’s a circulating nurse in the OR) once people started stealing gloves and masks the hospital stopped visitors (with the exception of dying patients), they are closing the OR (with the exception of a couple that will stay open for emergencies) on Monday (all elective surgeries will be cancelled that day) and the rooms that are closed will be used as ICU overflow.
My sister is terrified as she has underlying severe lung problems. She was exposed the first time almost two weeks ago and for as long as she’s exposed to it or even possibly exposed she’s isolating herself away from us.

It is definitely getting scary, but we need to remember even if we’re isolated, we’re not alone, we have the power of the internet, stay connected, use Skype or FaceTime instead of having face to face gatherings. Stay healthy everyone, we’re all in this together ❤️

I’m a tech working at a Gi Center in LA. Our main dr at the center is still deciding to stay open as long as patients are coming in. Wish we would close.

Greetings from Montgomery County Pennsylvania I just graduated from Tech school in December where I currently work they have cancelled elective surgeries as well starting 03/25, I work on the Maternity unit when their census is low CST's and Nurses are given the option of sitting with a patient for a 1:1 in lieu of being called off or using PTO. I hope that everything starts going back to normal especially on your end, stay healthy!

Sadly I am pregnant during this time and work in surgery and they don't consider pregnant women at risk during this and forcing us to sign a work pool to be sent to work face to face with patients and I am terrified. :( Especially after loosing 2 babies in the past and this being my 1st and finally going strong...for now. :( Ugh.

It's also important to mention that an estimated survival rate of covid 19 is more than 90%. It's mainly elderly people and those with preexisting medical conditions that are most vulnerable. Hopefully, after more young and healthy people will contract coronavirus and fight it effectively, we will get a decent herd immunity and everybody will be safer.

fyi. the surgery department in hospitals in China just resumed to perform elective surgery, and every patient need to do a CT scan before they are allowed to enter the ward.

I was suppose to start my Surgical Tech classes on April 6th but it has been postponed. I work at Circle K in Arizona and we've been deemed essential workers and it is terrifying going to work every day because we are so busy and people are not getting the memo to stay home.

It's sadness what's happening to our city here in Nevada and all over the world, I work at a surgery center nearby and we are down to wearing cloth gowns now, there aren't enough supplies in the world for all healthcare workers😔

Me and all of my coworkers got repurposed from the O.R to triaging patients. One entrance only. We were given one n95 each to reuse and a bag to put it back in after each day. It is not a good thing what the front line workers are going through.
