Great job so far! I agree it's a good idea to cover as you clear, it'll make it so much easier in spring!

My suggestions: that shed looks fixable, plenty of wood around to fix up the roof. Secondly, and I think more important, I suggest that you clear a bed and start planting straight away: don’t wait until spring. The best way to build some good soil and to keep the motivation going is seeing some plants growing. Best of luck.

Hard work to start with, take it one section at a time and have a plan mark out where N S E W are.its going to take a year or two but with a little determination you’ll get there. Good luck

Cover as you go is a good idea. Grass and weeds are not necessarily bad, as it grows food for your soil and your insects. However, cover areas where you will plant soon. You can actually start immediately growing just by clearing a small square (cut the turf, dig up a bit of dirt, flip the turf over, put back into your hole, cover with cardboard and your dirt. If you have any compost, cover with that. Plant. Feed weekly with whatever fertilizer you have. My mother and grandmother always used their free fertilizer. Cover the edges of your planted area with collected cardboard, so you can walk on it, keep the weeds back, and so it starts composting. You can also plant in any containers you find - flip over some turf at the bottom, add some dirt and/or compost. Plant fall/winter/spring crops, such as all your brassicas, peas, chives, onions, whatever your guys like to eat that are cool season crops. Always start growing and keep growing. Grazing is a great motivator.

Great progress made
I’d deffo say small sections that’s what we have had to do otherwise I think we would have given up
Roll on the next season 👌

Good start! I remember how much hard work had to be done to get my plot anywhere near ready for growing. But it is worth it! Keep at it and put a few overwintering plants in. I hope you really enjoy your plot!

See Charles Dowding vlogs for starting veg beds on rough ground. Its no dig. Just lots of cardboard and as much compost as you can get your hands on.

Your garden is impressive. Thank you for sharing it with us. I also garden and make garden videos. It’s a lot of work. I appreciate the tips, tricks and inspiration your videos provide. I hope that we can not learn from each other as we grow!

Hedge trimmers work really well to cut brambles down.

Don't try and do it all at once as starting a new plot is a lot of work! It is better to do one bit at a time, and do it well, digging out perennial roots like couch grass, dock, dandelion, bindweed, brambles, stinging nettles etc. Do not do too much at any one time, little and often works better as you do not get overwhelmed. In October /November you can try sowing over wintering FIRST EARLY peas, like meteor or feltham first or broad beans like Aquadulce variety for an early harvest next year. Also you can at the same time overwinter onions from sets and garlick. That is if you want to grow these. If you can get some free WELL rotted manure onto the ground it will help your growing next year. 80% of growing is your soiul fertility. Good luck, allotments are a great past time

Did you see any slow warm grass snake or adders on the plot

Do you think a lawnmower would be better than a strimmer? I may be getting a very overgrown plot. I'm wondering if I should invest in a lawnmower
