"And to dehumanise them" Is a aspect I never realised.

Honestly the vault suit of 101 being made from tough denim just makes me love it more, honestly I think this an excellent vault suit considering 101's experiment was literally to never open the vault ever.

I always thought of the suits as a way to increase survivability in the wasteland and the reason for the perk system

Im surprised on how durable they are lasting for 200 years and being hand-me-downs

76 had the best suit, futuristic but practical,
Not so tight that it's akward to look at your character, a good mix of fo3/nv and fo4

It never crossed my mind that some of the Vault jumpsuits would be extruded rubber, but it makes a lot of sense, knowing how little Vault-Tec cares about the Vault Dwellers. I imagine the rubber jumpsuits would be very uncomfortable to wear.

76's Style is my most favoured design simply because it is a mix of the vaults suits mentioned.

My headcanon is that Vault-Tec had been building Vaults pre-war for so long that they had time to revise the suits multiple times throughout the process. Maybe the earliest vaults built were supplied with the earliest suits designed, and VT never bothered with (or had time to) going back and resupplying old vaults with updated equipment. That’s why I just assume the Vaults in Fallout 1 and 2 are just plain rubber body(fetish)suits with almost no technology in them but they’re designed to be supplied in the thousands to be replaced when they break or recycled like you said. The suits in 3 and NV are 2nd gen and take the opposite approach of being designed to be so durable and modular that they’ll hopefully never need to be replaced at all. Then, for 4 and 76, Vault-Tec designed the 3rd gen combining the best attributes of both previous designs. A comfortably loose yet still form fitting jumpsuit that’s durable, modular and packed with modern tech. That’s why we’ve only seen them supplied to the absolutely newest Vaults built more or less a year before the war like 111 and 76.

I could be totally wrong, and there might be plenty of lore proving otherwise but I find it to be the easiest to mentally explain.

And here I thought they were just fashionable

Capital and Mojave suits seem more accurate as utility suits. Baggy suits give more standardization to the manufacturing to where you just make them in reference to chest diameter and adjust the sleeve and leg lengths. 38R, 38L, 38S, like how utility jumpsuits are sized in reality. Skin tight could be a little uncomfortable if they don't fight right, so having some extreme room or length is better because all you'll need is a belt or to roll the sleeves or pants slightly. And the production could be slightly more expensive. And corpos always like cost cutting

I also imagine the Capital and mojave suits are made out of a thinner material that tears easily because if the sleeve or pant leg gets caught in machinery, it just rips off rather than potentially drag the wearer

I'll be honest fallout 76 had a brilliant vault suit design which was a great blend between fallout 3 and fallout 4

What you've missed in your analysis is that the chest pad on F4 suit is missing a control knob. This control knob is visible in the concept art right at the start of the video, and the hi-res sculpt of the suit, _and_ in the vault suit variants (like those "worn" by skeletons). For whatever reason, when making the ingame "hero" model of the suit, this knob was not included.

This does explain the difference type of vault suits in vault 111. The utility suits are used by scientists, and the tighter ones by the “experiments”

Fallout 76 combines all the pros of every Vault suit in game. But I'm curious how comfortable are they? Like, when you go to the bathroom, do you pull it all down from top to bottom? or is there another zipper for your thing or can you pull down the trousers? I mean, it is a 'jumpsuit' like most mechanics wear, right?

The badge like thing on the vault suit is most likely a dosineter. It detects how much radiation you are exposed to over time. X-ray Techs have to wear something similar and get it examined weekly/monthly.

I thought the skin tight suit was perfect as an undersuit for different kinds of armor/exosuits. Depending on the task, anti radiation suit, industrial heavy lifting, underwater exploration, etc. Looked like the practical use for it.

It honestly would make sense for different materials to be used for different suits it's not uncommon for companies to outsource multiple contractors for the same product and if the specifications are loose in terms of requirements they have to meet the suits could vary wildly.

i like the F3 and NV suits and i like that the F76 suits are a nice blend between the F4 which called back to the original suites and the more utility of the F3/NV suit though i wish they kept the belt, still keep the gold trim around the waits but it needs a belt.
