SOS Opens New Social Center in Peristeri, Greece

As families in Greece were being hit hard by the debt crisis, the Hellenic American Leadership Council launched the #HelpGreeceNow campaign in response to a challenge grant that the Jaharis Family Foundation gave to SOS Children’s Villages. The campaign inspired members of the Greek community to contribute more than $250,000 for children and families in Greece. Thanks to their efforts, SOS Greece’s newest Social Center opened on January 20, 2016, in the town of Peristeri, which is a few kilometers from Athens. The center serves vulnerable children and families in the community with counseling, psychological support, education assistance, material assistance, and referral services.
