OMG and I thought it would be easy to upgrade the RAM.
In comparison I had a Dell at work and it had 4 screws and took less than 5 mins to completely upgrade the RAM, including rebooting. This HP (my personal laptop) now looks like a nightmare....

Good for the 17-f215dx except the optical drive removal. It stays in until the top is off. One tiny screw is unseen but accessible with the drive half way out, the other is in clear sight, I used a very small flat screwdriver..

few points to note, on my HP 17-p101na 2 screws where battery case are in tear down arent present on my model.

the dvd drive was a real pain to extract you would think just remove the screw and pull it out but had to keep fiddling at it think it was stuck down a little with glue or something but eventually came out after pulled off the plastic front facia.

when prizing off the keyboard with plastic spudger, there are little clips, you will hear them click when pulled out, they click back in when refitting the keyboard

cant believe they make it so annoying just to swap out a drive

Thanks. Need to verify where those hidden screws were for sure. Didn't need to take the entire cover off to replace the old HDD with a SATA SSD. Just help the bottom case up while swapping it out.
