A wonderfully preserved Vauxhall Cavalier Mk3 1.6L Auto with just 19,779 miles.

EQUIPMENT
Laminated windscreen, safety crumple zones, rigid passenger safety cell, silver coloured front grille, dark grey bodyside protection mouldings, locking fuel cap, halogen headlamps, power assisted steering (PAS), electric front windows, central locking, tilt/slide sunroof, remote control mirrors. Factory options; 4-speed automatic transmission, two-coat pearlescent paint.

EXTERIOR
This wonderfully nostalgic Vauxhall Cavalier Mk3, a once common sight on UK roads and instantly familiar to many, is now seldom seen and this example has been preserved impeccably. Finished in factory original and optional Lagoon Blue Pearlescent, (Code 26L), the paintwork boasts a vibrant polished shine and uniform finish with only tiny markings visible. All factory panels are damage free and the superb underside is free from anything other than factory applied Waxoyl to allow easy structural inspection. The registration etched glass, GM Carello headlights, badges and trim sections are virtually as new and supplying Vauxhall dealer number plates and rear screen sticker remain. The condition of this unmolested and cherished Cavalier is entirely commensurate with the remarkably low 19,779 miles covered.

INTERIOR
A clean, functional and period Vauxhall interior is sure to delight fans of the Griffin badged cars! The original Epsom Cloth trim in Grey, (Code 821), remains unworn with absolutely no damage whatsoever. The matching colour keyed door cards and headlining are pristine, and the fleece carpets are beautifully preserved. All functions and controls operate perfectly and the dashboard and associated switchgear are as new. Prominent natural veins to the steering wheel are an obvious trait of such a low mileage example. The factory fitted Grundig SC303 radio cassette remains fitted and even has the usually lost small leather pouch for the detachable code display panel! A comfortable modern classic and just as it left the Vauxhall showroom in 1992.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This Cavalier L features the 1598cc OHC four cylinder engine with Pieburg 2E3 twin barrel carburettor and automatic choke developing 82bhp at 5200rpm and 93lb/ft of torque at 3800rpm. This example having covered just 19,779 miles drives perfectly and the quiet engine is a delight. The engine bay is clean, unaltered and displays factory panel stampings, plates and stickers as well as genuine GM service items. The factory optional four speed automatic transmission with both sport and winter modes operates flawlessly.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original 5½ J x 13 wheels are shod in brand new correct 1.6L specification hubcaps which were removed from new for preservation purposes by the original owner whilst a second set remained on the car! The 165 SR 13 tyres have good tread remaining and the original Michelin MX tyre remains fitted and unused to the spare wheel. Diagonally split dual circuit brakes with direct-action servo assistance feature 9.3in front discs and 7.9in rear drums to bring the car to a steady and assured halt.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new by Vauxhall Main Dealers WASS of Leeds on the 1st August 1992, this exceptional example has covered just 19,779 miles within the same family from new. First keeper, Mr Alderson, bought the car new and upon his passing in 1994 ownership transferred to his wife Muriel Alderson. Unable to part with her husband’s car, it was put into long term dry storage until being gifted in 2014 to her nephew, Mr Geoffrey Peacock. After recommissioning the car, Mr Peacock used it for dry weather outings, shows and occasional commuting. The devotion and enthusiasm shown to the car is clear to see and this cherished example truly deserves the accolade time warp. Recent maintenance work includes an oil service, brake overhaul and the original GM rear silencer has just been replaced with a brand new standard stock item.

The original handbook and a collection of previous MOT certificates and invoices are in the history folder, and two sets of keys including the main torch key with dealer fob are included. This beautifully preserved and unmolested Cavalier is a credit to its former keepers and offers capable, practical and comfortable retro motoring, a guaranteed hit at shows.

MOT June 2018, HPI Clear.

I'm delighted to be the new owner of this retro classic. The car's in stunning, original showroom condition with only 20k miles. A total contrast to the Rover P4 I've just sold, which is what i wanted. Both classics but in completely different ways.
The Cavalier's are so rare these days i'm sure she'll have lots of admirers at shows especially in this superb condition!

That's in stunning condition. There is no fading to the exterior plastic trim or bumpers, which is amazing.

I think the reason that there are so many old cars in this condition with Auto gear boxes, rather than Manual gear boxes is because the owners were afraid to drive them.
I mean what percentage of cars were Automatic in the 70's, 80's and 90's?.. If you drove an automatic back then, you were either an old biddy in retirement or you simply weren't a confident driver..
Today it's different with the Semi Automatic and DSG boxes a lot of manufacturers are putting in their vehicles.. But I personally prefer a simple 6 speed Manual gearbox..

Jeremy Clarkson once said that you'd have to have a "Flappy paddle head" to enjoy those autos in an everyday personal driver and I have to agree with him...

BUT, even though this Cavalier is an Auto, I'm still glad it exists in this condition. 👍

I, ve been to two large classic car shows this weekend, lots of Jags, MGs, Morris Minors etc but didn't see any Vauxhall Cavaliers. Not one! I think this car is quite unique. It"s in superb original condition, less than 20k miles and you just don't see these around today.

Sad that it was a CC with that long rear window. I think it's really ugly in its design comparing to the regular Vectra A/Cavalier. A regular Vectra A/Cavalier in the performance version (4x4 for example) would look really nice though.

Stunning example of a once common sight. It's great to see a Mk 3 Cavalier looking showroom fresh as so many like the Sierra were simply driven into the ground.

Wow what a find & in such good original condition too! When was the last time we saw a Mk3 Vauxhall Cavalier on our roads eh?! The once popular rep car & I recall watching Quentin Willson on Top Gear several years ago test driving this particular mark of the Vauxhall Cavalier when it first came out.
My parents had a Mk3 Vauxhall Cavalier 1.6 too. It was a J reg, had power steering & factory fitted sunroof but was very basic inside! It was a white car & unfortunately the rust soon made its presence felt so it was bye bye to that car. It was a good family car all the same. Whoever will buy this car will have a real timewarp gem to hopefully cherish & enjoy! Thank you for uploading.

Really liked these. I had a SRi saloon on a 'H' plate in 1995, still regret selling it. This is a very late pre-facelift on a 'K' plate (going by '1st Aug 1992' in description), as they facelifted them probably early 1993 (still on a K plate).
