Pitch Black was a movie about opposites. When it gets dark everything that was in the light gets reversed. The man with children has none. The hero is a drug addict, the villain is the hero. The boy is a girl. The pilot who was willing to kill everyone to save herself, sacrifices herself to save everyone.

Pitch Black is such a great Sci-Fi thriller. My favorite Vin Diesel character and just a fun thrill ride.

My friend’s mom worked with Vin Diesel at a gas station years before he was famous. His name was Mark and one day he came into the store, told them he was moving to Hollywood and changing his name to Vin Diesel, and that he was gonna be a famous actor. They supported his decision but they obviously didn’t believe it would actually happen. And now he’s one of the most famous actors on the entire planet.

The film that put Riddick on the map as one of my favorite antiheroes. This film also had you cheering for the "bad guy".

Also the film has great character acting all around. Can we give Cole Hauser and Keith David a shout? The entire cast pretty much plays to their type wonderfully.

I love this movie. The scene where Riddick studies the fossils of an alien to discover a blind spot helped give him a clever vibe. Also in addition to his crazy eye sight, he also has insane smelling if he noticed Jack's period.

Pitch Black is one of the rarest cases where Horror, Mystery, Action, Adventure and Sci-fi ALL combined into one that works!
One of the best original films at the time. Shame we did not see any continuation of Riddick.

My dad showed this movie to me in 2015 and I was thrilled. He absolutley loves the Riddick franchise. More specifically the Chronicles of Riddick.

I love just about everything in the Riddick Universe but Pitch Black is on another level. Fell in love with this film immediately and it's still so awesome to watch every once in a while. It even aged fairly well too.

The thing I always loved about the Riddick movies is that he has this reputation as a crazy villain but throughout the movies he's shown to be a very reasonable person who is just used to doing whatever it takes to survive.

Every time I watch this film, I'm always impressed with the actual filmography. There are a lot filter, lighting, and angle choices that really add something extra to the story. The movie has a palpable "feel" to it.

Thanks for honoring Pitch Black in the mix. Definitely a memorable fan favorite as it surprised us all by how good it all came together!

Vin was so perfect in this movie! He was never able to find a better role and it kind of held him back. Totally holds up because of the great artstyle they filmed with.

the video games, Escape from Butcher Bay and Assault on Dark Athena, are seriously underrated. I played the double feature on my XBOX 360 a longgg time ago and I still remember almost everything about it. they aren't movie tie ins, they're cannon to the films but they're their own stories set around the events of Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick. they're really good insights on the universe and the people in it. the games were way ahead of their time.

“You see anything out there?”
Riddick: “Looks clear.”
*Guy gets attacked by a demon*
“WHAT THE HELL MAN I THOUGHT YOU SAID IT WAS CLEAR”
“I said it looks clear.”
“Well what’s it look like now?”
Riddick: *Looks over the hill*
“Looks clear.”
One of my favorite dialogue exchanges in any movie

True story. My brother and I went to see Pitch Black when it first came out. Like 15 mins into the movie the screen fades to black but we could still hear the audio. 2 minutes into that we start to realize that it wasn’t part of the movie. Lights come on moments later and they tell us the projector burnt out. We were literally watching pitch black 😂

David Twohy was a childhood friend of my dad’s, and they still keep in touch to this day. I remember before this movie was released, he gave me a copy to watch at a get together, and I must have watched it 10 times that week. I recently rewatched it and I think it still holds up. Super underrated movie!

Best thing of this movie, and others like it, is the fact that you never know who is gonna live or die, including the main characters. This uncertainty peaks the interest and curiosity of audiences, and I believe it's one of the reasons of a movie's success.

You forgot to mention the legendary Keith David playing the Iman. This movie is so awesome. I forget her name, but the lead hero, Cole Hauser (now in Yellowstone) as Janz, the whole cast actually does quite well. It really is a charming, well thought out movie and it is easily my favorite Vin Diesel movie.

Pitch Black has my absolutely favorite spaceship crash scene. It's so intense and well shot, man, nothing beat it to this day <3
