*The content is based on personal studies and experience
There is no intention of denying other theories and cultural aspects

While regular sushi looks like this, there are some sushi called 手毬寿司 Temari-zushi that are small and has a round shape. 手毬 Temari by the way are these small balls that were played with as toys from long ago in Japan.

These one-bite sushi developed so that the maiko/geiko working in Kyoto could eat them without opening her mouth wide and to prevent their lipstick from coming off.

However, today, anyone can enjoy them, and these are some of the reasons why I especially recommend Temari-zushi to you!

1. They are easy to make
2. They can be topped with anything you like
3. They look stylish

While a regular sushi takes years of training to make properly, you can just use plastic wrapping to easily and quickly make them.

Next, as you can see in these pictures, Temari-zushi can be topped with almost any ingredient, so it is suitable for any kind of food needs.

Lastly, they simply look very cute and colorful and serving them at home parties and events, for example, might be a really good idea!

This blew my mind! Nobody in the US makes or offers this kind of sushi. You could eat the sushi properly, in just one bite. Plus, the diversity of ingredients makes sushi available to people who don't like fish. Amazing! Thanks, Shogo!

Thanks! The "simple, use plastic wrap" was a great idea. Now (I know I've mentioned this before), you and your wife have to make some short, easy to do, Japanese cooking so that those of us who can't get to Japan can have typical Japanese food to eat without having to go to expensive restaurants here in the US. And - remember, keep it simple! This way, I can get away from the Nissin cup noodles and such!

Wow that's so interesting 😊 and very considerate that Maiko & Geiko can eat the sushi gracefully as well. and they look super cute!

Hee, that's cool. I'd appreciate being better able to have a little more variety of sushi in the same sitting. I fill up pretty quickly, so like four pieces of regular sushi's really a full meal for me, even if I' be ready for some more within a couple hours. :)
