imagine being someone who thinks being responsible with credit and actively paying off those debts to avoid paying interest is criminal. omg.

I know a guy who considers himself an expert on credit cards and credit. He said he could blow me away with his knowledge. He had never heard of the Chase Sapphire Reserve. He also considered himself an expert on Japanese food but was not familiar with miso soup.

100% of my friends and family when they hear I have 10 credit cards (except my bro who also plays the game), "wtf are you insane?"

Them: "I'm hoping to buy a house in the San Francisco Bay Area soon with my low paying job."

Me: "Do you have a good credit score? Do you have any credit cards?"

Them: "I don't know what it is, I never checked, I don't have any credit cards."

My brother is definitely in the "too much work" category.

My parents are . . . in a different category. I handle most of their credit card applications and then tell them when/where to use the cards :) [AMEX gold] "Use this at the grocery store and dining out", [Chase Freedom, in the appropriate quarter] "Filling up the gas tank? Use this card", etc :D

I meet quite a few "any credit card with an annual fee is a ripoff" people.

You are SO right, there is no comparison at all with the benefits of having status at hotels in Asia vs. North America (air travel too). People who haven't traveled to Asia with status may find it hard to believe, but yes, they treat you like a king, upgrade you whenever possible, really go out of their way for you. I joke often about how I'm spoiling my Thai grandson; he's almost 7, and all he's known so far in his life is premium economy or business class airfare and 5-star hotels with lavish breakfast buffets and executive lounges...the first road trip he takes with his college buddies, he's going to be like, "how do people live like this?!"

Hi Sebastian- I used your calculator to make a decision as to whether I should get the Amex Blue Cash Preferred card. I did end up getting it. Thank you!!!

Merry Christmas Sebastian. My first time commenting but have been benefiting from your videos for a long time, so thank you! I can totally relate to this video, specifically I get a lot of friends who gawk and say they are jealous of the business class flights ive been able to book with points, but I can tell they wouldn't even take the first step by signing up for the right cards. And there are definitely the judgemental bunch like im killing my credit score but the response is easy: *here's my credit score*, here are all the cards I have open, here's what I get out of them (usually comes in form of pics of biz class flights, free hotels, and lounges), and I def am not in credit card debt. Then i add that this is what i do and they can do whatever they want to do. I welcome a "challenge" and we can compare our financial habits to see who has faired better in terms of paying back student loans, mortgage, total remaining debt, retirement savings, income, etc. And they usually shut up after that 😝

Family and friends are afraid of credit cards because they equate them with debt but, people in my part of the legal community are into this hobby or don’t want to engage in the hobby because they think it’s too much work on top of their other activities. I think that this hobby fits perfectly with the way lawyers think and when I retire next summer I’ll have more time to take advantage of it. Thanks for the entertaining video!

Yeah you missed my favorite. The group that’s like us. The people who have the same hobby/affliction lol. I love them, I can sit and compare stories, methods, trips taken, status match techniques. Group”11”

So true about those luxury mastercards. When I found them I wondered why none of the credit YouTubers talked about em. Then after reviewing them, i knew why

Some of my friends try to understand but they cant wrap their head around it like you dabble in the occult. The biggest endorsement is when your previously skeptic significant other just says to them: yeah, this stuff is real.

Should you run both the Amex platinum and Chase sapphire reserve? Or is that counter productive?

I have an askhole in my circle of friends too. Now he makes close to $550/month in cash back from amex blue cash preferred. It took a whole year of convincing and explaining.
