Nice...my computer has not done any windows updates in almost a year. I couldn’t figure why...and neither could my IT person. I did this and now it’s got about 40 updates in the process of downloading.

On the first solution, when I try to net start wuauserv it says that it can't find the file. and the softwareDistribution file/folder also doesn't seem to appear :(

or here is another one :
1.Run cmd as administrator
2.Type this command : DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
3.Wait till it finishes
4.Type this command : sfc /scannow
5.Close cmd then try updating again.
if this worked can someone help me to fix Microsoft Store i cannot download anything it says progressing forever

Everything worked until the step where you said: net start wuauserv . I get the error:
"The wuauserv service is starting.
