There are several reasons you might abandon a vehicle. It may have broken down and thereby become useless to you. It might be obsolete or outdated. It might even have just got lost one day! Unwanted or abandoned vehicles have a habit of turning up in unusual places, and when they do, they make for great stories. This video is all about the grand tales of unusual vehicles and pieces of equipment that were lost and then found once more.

I remember the Heinkel "Bubble Car" (at 3.00mins) as a teacher at my schoolhad one. It had one serious flaw. To get in and out the whole of the front ws hinged outwards. This posed a problem for him one day when he parked it front end against a wall up and couldn't open the front end to get out. To compound the problem the car had no reverse gear. If you wanted to go go back the way you had just come you had to get out and lift the car up at the front and bodily turn it round to face the way you wanted to go! Luckily, we all thought that the teacher was a "great guy" and wee all enjoyed turning the car round allowing him to get out.
Incidentally, the Heinkel was made by the same German company which produced the Heinkel bomber which was widely used in the war, 1939-45. The Heinkel company was forbidden from building planes by the occupying Allied forces but was allowed to produce a car. At the same time, the Messerschmitt aircraft company, manufacturer of the Me109, the Me110 and the Me262 fighters produced another "bubble car". Both were 2-seater vehicles and whilst the Heinkel sat the 2 occupants side-by-side (as in a bomber) the Messerschmitt sat then one-behind-the-other, as in the Me110, its 2-seat fighter. For boys of our age for whom stories of fights between Spitfires and Hurricanes against Me 109s, Me 110s and He 111s were every day fare during the war, so that seeing Heinkels and Messerschmitts chugging round England was something of a novelty.

This video is really hurting my feelings. Because I am mechanical engineer and can calculate how much effort, money and time it took to build all these machines. And now they are abandoned and turned into trash.

Horton HO 229 had the benefit of having a low radar signature because of the design but it was not designed that way.

This was a genuinely interesting, informative and entertaining video with good presentation and narration.

The vehicles/vessels/craft depicted were all new to me, likewise their histories, something of a rarity for YT.

The cement mixer 'space capsule' was outstandingly original, outrageously hilarious and it fooled the gullible media and a supposed 'expert', simultaneously amusing and entertaining the public whom love a good gag!

This infuriates me. There are several Ho 229 models remaining, I believe 4 or 5 original in the world. There are a few recreations out there, and the one you showed pictures of was the restoration of the one salvaged from a factory in the Fatherland. It WAS at the NaS Museum Annex, I remember seeing it brought in many, many years ago.

Now, allow me to help you set your facts straight.

The Ho 229's "stealth technology" was NOT the original intent. It was to be an efficient medium to long range bombing aircraft. Sadly, they only ever built the model to fit 30mm cannons, as testing with a bomb payload caused issues with handling, and caused the aircraft to be extremely unstable.

The fact it's "stealthy" is due to the odd shape, and the mainly wood construction as Germany had limited access to the metals used to construct the airframe. It is extremely easy to build aircraft with wood, it's cheap, easy to construct airframe components as well as a replenishing resource.

Whilst it is an amazing machine and a German engineering marvel, it had many, many flaws. But, it drove the future of stealth after experimentation with the design, construction, and materials proved that the 'flying-wing' design had a significantly lower radar signature than conventional fixed-wing aircraft. Especially at its time.

The HO 229 was not built for stealth it was built to be a fighter/bomber that was supposed to fly 1000kph, fly 1000km, and to hold 1000kg bombs it was not built to be stealthy at all is was built to be a long range jet fighter/bomber to fill the 3x1000 project. The only time anything stealth was tested on it was after the war.

The Rolls Royce is covered in another video by the same name, and by the same channel. Other than that, the rest are great stories. Thank you.

The cement mixer "space capsule"was in my town in a field next to the I-10 highway, the artist did a awesome, spot on job! Traffic was pulling off to the shoulder of the road to look, calling it in to the authorities. Evidently the authorities were getting tired of the calls and was "decommissioned" as a spacecraft. It was awesome while it lasted. Kudos to the artist!
