Making a super clean sub with Ableton’s Operator is too easy! Literally just drop the VSTi onto the track and play the low keys. Done. Sub. Clean. Heavy. However, this clean sine wave can’t be heard through most laptop speakers and crappy headphones. This is a problem. If you want to have a professional sound, you need to overcome this obstacle.

And it’s important to remember that fact… there are not problems, only obstacles!

The presentation view of the Sub Distortion.
In this video tutorial we are going to use the Saturator audio effect to ad just a tad, or a ton, of distortion to the sub bass. These new frequencies will be better picked up though smaller or sh!tt!er speakers.

Follow along with this video tutorial as we map Saturator’s drive, output and on / off parameters all to one macro knob. Then do some fancy mapping techniques to get the desire effect, that subtle sub bass distortion.
