I like the idea that French has a mother, like what language would she speak? Latin?

I think French needs a hug. Who hurt French?

Well actually, there are at least 12 in English:
Present simple (I play)
Present proggresive (I am playing)
Perfect (I have played)
Perfect continuous (I have been playing)
Past simple (I played)
Past progressive (I was playing)
Past perfect (I had played)
Past perfect continuous (I had been playing)
Future simple (I will play)
Future continuous (I will be playing)
Future perfect (I will have played)
Future perfect continous (I will have been playing)

Bonuses:
Infintive (to play)
Future in the past {simple} (would play)
Future in the past {perfect} (would have played)
Future in the past {perfect, continuous} (would have been playing)

And that's just the active, there is also a passive version for each.

English: all conjugations will be the same.
I walk, you walk, he walks (outlier), we walk, they walk.
I will walk, you will walk, he will walk, we will walk, they will walk.
I walked, you walked, he walked, we walked, they walked.

French tells me when and whom.

I actually never thought of translating "plus que parfait" to english, it's hilarious!

English is just adding more auxiliary verbs when making new tenses, I agree with that being sloppy.
(worst I know is the string: "will have been being" as just the auxiliary verbs for the passive future perfect continuous tense)

What I find hilarious about this channel is that all the madness that the shorts contain ain't fake but real, like french spelling words in which they seem to exist only to show a different language that he ain't a copycat

the moment I (German) stopped learning French by heart was when I opened my book with conjugations and saw the first 3 pages of about 100. The remaining 5 years of learning French at school I went with "souds right" 🤣🤣

Wait a second, since when English has 3 times and not 16?
Simple, Continuous, Perfect and Perfect Continuous for each of those 3 and extra 4 Passive forms

French conjugation is simple, you have simple past yes, then composed past because past is complicated so you need 2 words to have it make sense, otherwise it's imperfect past so we call it imperfect. Then if you compose the past with a bit of imperfection it becomes more than perfect! And there's this past that's before the past that is a composed past with simple past and we call it anterior past. And it's only the Indicative! Should I continue with conditional, subjonctif and imperative?
