That's how you crank out so many videos! Good work!

I use many different RC techniques depending on the project and my mood, but for most single line Rough Cuts I usually shuttle through at 2x speed while using I, O and ' keys to make a rough draft.

Holy hell. I've been using Premier for years and I never even thought about doing it this way. Great, great, great tutorial!

*Leave a comment if you can help others do something similar in the video editor you use. Thanks for watching and subscribing! BTW...The PPro default "Q" is RIPPLE TRIM PREVIOUS EDIT TO PLAYHEAD in the keyboard shortcuts. The cut keyboard command is for SEQUENCE -> ADD EDIT which is a default of CONTROL-K. I added an "X" to it.*

Q and W are two of my favorite shortcuts in Premiere. It's a shame more people don't know about them. They can save so many unnecessary clicks and keystrokes

Just a tip: Re-program keys A & S as Zoom In and Zoom Out. (of the timeline). D as ripple delete. Then my left hand hovers over those keys (in one spot of the keyboard). Mouse with the right hand with cut tool. Cut and ripple del. Makes it easy to navigate the timeline too.

The EASIEST way I've found is by marking in-out on the source monitor and then inserting it to the blank timeline. now I don't know how to do this so I start immediately marking, it's currently not possible to start cutting to a non-existence timeline. You need to drag one of your video files to the time line to create it, then delete the video in the timeline and then, , start in-out work in source monitor inserting to the timeline. this works frickin' fast, no cutting or shift-deleting, --- the right content straight into the timeline.

I am using a Logitech G700s and work with this mouse is a breeze!
Keyboard Shortcuts are king in fast pace editing.

5:59, not if you had mistakes along the shoot! :-D

in Premiere: set in and out points on a pause, click ', it lifts and ripples the bit you don't want.

I’ve never set up any shortcut keys for whatever reason, but I think I will give this a try. Thanks for the tips!

In VEGAS PRO (It hasn't been Sony Vegas for years), you just turn auto ripple ON, select the portion you want to remove, and press delete. Select, delete, select, delete, select delete. Then, when you're done, just turn off auto ripple. It's even faster. Of course, the precise, proper way to do it is to split the clip at the exact In/Out points you need, and just move them up on the next track above or below. After you're done, select all of those clips on the new track and apply Remove Gaps. Thus, you end up with a neatly extracted set of clips, while keeping the rest for later reference.

Great tip! I recently started doing this myself when cutting my footage. I have a gaming mouse with my cut button happen to it, and I just hit q or w on the keyboard as I scrub through. Awesome method!

great stuff!
This is for all the Gamers out there: I also like to do an audio-crossfade ("constant power") as a last step by clicking shift + D ("Apply Audio Transition"). Then the Audio most of the time fits with the gaming-material.

You can also finetune the length of the crossfade in the Timeline Settings: > Audio Transition Default Duration > 1 Sec

Genius! Here's how to achieve comparable results in Davinci Resolve. There are two commands called "Trim Start" and "Trim End." By default, they're set to shift+[ and shift+]. It does exactly the same thing as the Q shortcut in this video, but it doesn't ripple cut. So at the end, you'll have a bunch of gaps. But you can just click "Edit > Delete gaps." And you have a beautiful rough cut. Not quite as simple as Premiere.

Here's how I have it set up. I have "Cut" set to c and "Trim Start" set to ctrl+c. Then I set "delete gaps" to shift+ctrl+delete. You can drag your playhead across the clips just like he did and click c to make a cut, then click ctrl+c to trim to the playhead. Then at the very end, when you have a million gaps, just click shift+ctrl+delete.

2:17 what was that audio you deleted? Also how did you sync the sound at around 2:14?

Thank you very much for this video. I have been struggling with making a video for last 10 days, thinking & rethinking how to go about it. I do have some videos already on my channel, but I myself am not happy about the way they have come out. Still lot to learn....
