I know it seems to be fun to poke fun at the Space Force, but as a retired naval officer with a real C4I and comms background, I’m kind of surprised it took as long as it did to create one. Until now, all of the different branches of DoD had pieces and chunks of the mission, much like the early days of computers when everyone was just winging it and cobbling things together to play crude games and do word processing and spreadsheets. I, for one, am glad to see progress towards a consolidated and comprehensive approach at managing our space assets.

Actual this is not entirely correct, would you create a navy without or before you had built ships ands boats ...would you make an organization and call it the united states airforce without planes or jets ? Likewise a space force requires a fully operational space fleet and indeed the united states has at least one fleet of very large FTL space craft each one contains 46 scout ships . The space ships themselves are run by the department of the navy with the Normal compliment of marines aboard acting as security. Only the most open minded oddball types make the cut to board one of these vessels. Yes we are already exploring the galaxy at large....heck other galaxies for all I know....with a vessel capable of traveling many times faster than light by manipulation of the fabric of space itself....I will volunteer to colonize another planet

Yeah, there’s only one problem. US space force isn’t even doing any space exploration, settlement or mining work, just guarding satellites so how is this branch going to contribute anything in developing any advanced breakthrough propulsions 🫤
