Am 61. Younger, I was very pale skinned with dark hair, brown green eyes. I’m now silver haired, and feel my skin tone has changed.. can we have a silver/grey info session.. please? 🥂💕

What a gold mine! So satisfying to see those beautiful colour combinations come together. Lucid, engaging, compelling. All the Trinny Magic. I love yellow and now have a heap of tips to make it work for me. I even made notes. Sharing here in case anyone else can use them:

Neon is a cool-toned yellow. Wear it with Chalice and Justice, which is a putty colour that tones down the neon. Neons create drama and can bring life back to traditional outfits like tweeds or an old suit 😎 You can also wear pastel pink with neon yellow and it looks nice with silver lurex or holographics. Or with dove grey. Or with a very dark plum colour. Wear this combination of plum and neon with Emily sheer shimmer or Munchkin to bring in some darkness because neon can wash you out.

Neon yellow needs a silver or white accessory. Silver takes you up to lemon. As you get towards the warmer end of the yellows you can pair it with soft gold instead. Similarly you go from white pairing well with neons through to beige or ecru accessories pairing best at the warmer ends of the spectrum. Neon also looks chic with beige accessories.

Warmer toned orangey-yellows and saffron yellows need something like Maiko. These colours look beautiful on a really warm-toned or caramel skin and when there is red in the skin. Leopard print accessories go well with these. Also orange accessories, which begin to work well as you go from cooler tones into the daffodil and warmer shades of yellow. Make up to go with saffron yellow includes using Chloe on the lips, which is quite dark but very chic. If using Chloe on the cheeks use it more as a contour blush starting just below and fading up over the top of the cheekbones. Then contour using Serena. Courage on the eyes then gives a bit of warmth everywhere. This looks beautiful on a warmer skin tone.

If you want to deepen the lips even more you can use Yasmin Lip luxe. If your skin is more neutral than warm you can then warm things up a bit with a touch of Lady J on the cheekbones and a little bit of it all over your face to build up that colour. And you can finish off with a little bit of Nicole sheer shimmer over lips and cheek.

Daffodil shades look nice with an orangey red make up like Shasha with Mama sheer shimmer on top. Arguably looks even better with Swainey, which is a bit redder than Shasha. You can continue the warmth with Fortune on the eyes.

For a shocking contrast you can wear daffodil yellow with purple.

Between neons and daffodil shades you have lemon yellows, which suit peaches and cream skin tones. Make sure these don’t fight with your hair if you are blonde. Look at the tones in the hair - do cool or warm tones predominate?

Neutrals like me can try any yellow but will definitely need the right make up for some of those colours.

I loved the pale lemon yellow padded shoulder T-shirt with those very dark, dusty rose velvet flares from Zara! Two neutral soft toned shades together. This needed a wintry make up like Weasie because that is brown over warm but it’s not too warm like Nicole or Maiko.

Stronger lemon yellow needs a punchy lip colour like Pookie. You can wear strong lemon yellow with fuschia, cobalt blue or clean green. (What’s a ‘clean green’ btw? Is it like a Kelly green)? Or wear with a charcoal grey. The darkness of the grey gives a nice contrast with the lemon. You could also wear a strong lemon yellow with an easter chick yellow fur coat. (Brave but very cheery!)

Clothing notes :
Yellow Alex Perry trouser suit is really lovely - great padded shoulder. Lovely tailoring. Apparently the trousers needed altering significantly as they were too loose around the bum.
Bottega Veneta boots are funky.
Also liked the pretty saffron yellow Victoria Beckham skinny sweater and the daffodil yellow Zara trousers suit - but that long double breasted jacket on my 5’2” frame would make me look like a hobbit wearing Gandalf.

Thank you for breaking down the "science" of colours, tones and pairings. The only thing I have stepped into that isn't discussed alot is textures... not patterns.. but textures. Obviously natural materials are better in general but I have found that contrasting textures (especially if some elements of my outfit are made from manmade materials) really helps everything look more luxe.

Ok Trinny... I just picked up a lime/neon green pashmina and crossbody which I wore yesterday with my camo jacket.. Got TONS of compliments! After seeing this I need something yellow-- I figure start small by incorporating various accessories that boast BRIGHT colors. From there if I like how I look; step up and get a blouse, pants or sweater. Thanx for the tips! Your love for clothing is BEYOND infectious💛

I have always loved yellow but never known how to pair it with other colours. Thankfully I’ve chosen the correct shade according to Trinny’s advice and can now wear my yellow more confidently.

Would love to see shopping your own wardrobe for Spring trends. How can we hint toward the forecasted “it” trends for Spring by using items in our current wardrobe. I think that’s a real challenge but allows us to be creative and not spend money on clothes we don’t really need.

So informative! What really would have helped me, when talking about the skin- and hair tone to put a picture up like you have on the website. I still don't get it cool skin sorry...

I’m a deep skin tone with very yellow/caramel undertones. Saffron and Mustard look great but I’d love to be able to pull off neon yellow - it’s so pretty against neutral deep skin tones!

Thanks for this amazing video. When I discovered it's about shades of colours, you opened my mind to another world! Now I know that if we choose the correct shade and make up, every colour is welcome to our wardroves. Thanks again
