Is this the chain rattle noise?

Might be the crankshaft and camshaft sensor. If you hard reset the check engine light. Then you'll notice the chain doesn't rattle. so, it's a faulty communication with the engine. Codes for that will be P0018.

If you replace the chain tensioner it would resolve the issue as well.
This cars are old..the original tensioner are like 7 years old.

Bro I´m late but my C180 CGI W204 sounds exactly the same. Every time I start it up, it sounds like this. If the motor is cold its worse than when it is warm. My chain was changed 40tkm ago so idk what it could be. Did u find a solution?

Yh this a timing chain go to a Mercedes Benz garage or a specialist as they use genuine parts believe me you need genuine as the third part will become loose and CHANGE IS AS SOON AS YOU CAN IF THAT SNAPS YOUR ENGINE IS GONE

I just changed chain, camshaft adjuster, oil, filter. Still makes the noise. Any idea? Garage told me its the oil pump tensioner. What do you guys think?

Ok might be time for timing chain or at least hydraulic tensioner change. But in some cases. Especially well maintained cars. I think something else is the route cause that sets fail scenario in motion. Oil filter housing overnight drain back to sump. And yes i know about oil filter o rings. But. In some cases oil filter is draining back to sump overnite causing oil feed delay. Due to pump having to fill filter first. Try this. Remove your oil filter in morning before starting. If your filter is bone dry. Its draining back. Yes i know filter housing drains when you remove filter and stem. But a filter seconds before immersed in oil would be dripping wet. If your filter is bone dry and seems like its been drained hours earlier. You got run back.

tensioner is the problem...some tensioner requires oil pressure to create chain tension
