So, not to point out the obvious but.. the reason everyone does it the other way is the lack of sharp edge along the thing holding the food instead of the thing being thrown away. The way pictured keeps the lid "safer" which is typically useless.

Not all can openers do that. You have an opener that is exclusively for top removal

I do it the old way because I re- use the cans for other things. What you think is the “right” way leaves a sharp edge making it easier to get cut.

the first way is the right way Plus did you see how sharp the edges were on the second way you did it guarantee you're cutting your hands or something

After doing it that way about 5 to 7 times the can opener doesn't work as good .

Naw thats the wrong way to do it the 1st way is the way bc it makes it easier to drain the liquids
