My college chem professor told us about a coworker he had that was handling very strong bases and his suit got a hole in it without him realizing it. So the base got into one or both of his boots and he didn’t realize his foot or feet were being dissolved until he took off his boots when he came home and found a mutilated foot and sludge in his boot.
