Chuck Berry is one of the pioneers of rock ‘n roll music. His songs were great, his vocals were fantastic and he could dance. Then there’s his guitar abilities. He was a one-man show. Love everything Chuck Berry did. Thanks for your reactions. 👏👏🇨🇦🇨🇦

You can't get more classic in rock and roll than this song.

One of the fathers of rock n roll music. His influence on The Beatles is well documented. One of the most famous songs ever recorded. Great reaction.

Chuck Berry is (for me) the real King of Rock `n Roll. After all he inspired so many following bands like The Rolling Stones (especially Keith Richards), The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and many more. He was just great as a composer, musician and performer. Thanks and best wishes @all from hamburg (germany)

The prototype of the classic rock & roll song. This was radical when it came out, but Chuck was fearless. I got to see him play once.

Can you imagine hearing that electric guitar for the first time.

Now react to Chuck and John Lennon on theMike Douglas Show singing this together! Yoko starts caterwauling and the techs have to cut her mic! The look on Chuck’s face is priceless!

I knew Chuck Berry back in the day in St. Louis club Muddy Waters. Every single sing Berry ever did was insane excellent.

A recording of Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode" was sent into interstellar space in 1977 on two separate Voyager spacecraft. The record includes pieces by such musical greats as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and many indigenous musical works. It also contains natural sounds of the earth and photos too. The record is pure gold and will last millions of years. If an extra-terrestrial being finds the craft and the record, it will see and hear life as it existed on our planet in the 20th century.

There’s a great documentary on Chuck Berry, he has people like Keith Richards, Elvis Costello, and Springsteen on it. Worth watching. Name of the documentary is Hail, Hail Rock N Roll.

Kinda fun checking out and reacting to a live version of any song by any artist, but when you do that, you run the risk of missing the opportunity of hearing for the first time the original recording that was the reason the song became a hit in the first place. In this case, you missed hearing one of the most impactful, influential recordings of all time. More people have picked up a guitar for the first time after hearing the opening riff in that recording than probably any other song in history. That, and hearing the rolling bass lines of Willie Dixon, and the Johnny Johnston inspired piano lines played by Lafayette Leake (not just some house band that changed night after night, city after city, gig after gig, as is seen plucking away in this video). I would highly recommend checking out the actual studio recording of this song (and probably a good practice in the future to do that before checking out live performances of most songs).
Peace

Ok In another forum - a hockey message board of all places- here is what I posted after his passing:

This guy was a deity. Some quotes:

John Lennon: “If you tried to give rock and roll another name, you might call it ‘Chuck Berry.'”

Stevie Wonder: “There’s only one true king of rock ‘n’ roll. His name is Chuck Berry.”

Jerry Lee Lewis: “[My mama] said, ‘You and Elvis are pretty good, but you’re no Chuck Berry.'”

Bruce Springsteen: "Chuck Berry was rock's greatest practitioner, guitarist, and the greatest pure rock & roll writer who ever lived."

Keith Richards: "I've stolen every lick he ever played."

If you've ever listened to a bunch of Chuck Berry tunes while dropping acid, you've come in contact with the divine

The world ran into Chuck Berry, and has not been the same since. He was the pivot point. An avatar from the future. No wonder he was included in the movie. Hendrix was another. Imagine if he had not died. These were real geniuses, not Sears geniuses.

Not only was he a great singer/songwriter/guitar player but he was an excellent showman.

CHUCK BERRY was the Grand Father of the electric rock guitar. He inspired generations of musicians. The Rolling Stones have said he inspired them. They would listen to his records in England. I believe The Beatles and Led Zeppelin too.
