A friend of mine had a George Nakashima dining room table. He said it was very expensive but he really admired George and really wanted it, so he bought it...for $2, 000.

gorgeous / divine
George looked at the pieces he made as giving trees a second life....they ARE alive.
"there's a spirit in trees that runs very deep."

I've been to the workshop a few times with my Architecture school, it was an amazing place and still has a magical feeling.

What a brilliant and unique mind to craft such a piece. I have the greatest admiration for practical and yet unique builders like this.

You would be surprised how comfortable his furniture is. The New Hope library has some of his chairs. He also made some pieces for St. Martins Church in town.

Very unique piece of furniture. I never really watched Antiques Roadshow, but now I’m almost hooked on it

Geo Nakashima was an amazing craftsman/artist. Tho my woodworking is more conventional, I greatly appreciate his work. George would be beyond please that his work was actually being used and not just a show piece.

This is an extremely cool piece that this family has. If it hits anywhere near 100 grand....sell!!!

there is a George Nakashima bench very similar to this (mirrored to the opposite side) on a site called 1stdibs (seems like a retail enviornment) for 185, 000$ right now in 2022.
