It does an old sailors heart a lot of good to know there are folks who have enough appreciation for history to want to preserve it in ships like Texas. One of the most decorated aircraft carriers was sold for scrap and that is a heart breaking tragedy for those of us who served aboard her. Cherish USS Texas for the diamond she is. The history in her decks was not cheap.

The Residents of and the State of Texas should be proud of the transformation and repairs to THE LAST Battleship of her class left in existance and saving her from the scrappers. A lot of work left to do on the inside but at least now there is a much less threat of her sinking at her moorings as the oldest and first museum ship in the World. Good job done by the repair crews

I cannot say it enough, but "Thank you, thank you, thank you", for taking the time to film this transformation. I'm sure it takes a lot of your personal time to drive there and film, but you certainly have done us YouTube watchers a big favor. I appreciate your efforts.

What a beautiful old ship. If I'm ever in the USA I'll definitely pay the USS Texas a visit. From Newcastle Australia.

In dry dock she lies, the USS Texas bold,
A warrior of the seas, a story to be told.
Fresh paint adorns her mighty hull,
A tribute to strength, a testament full.

With a history deep, forged in battles past,
She sailed through storms, her anchor steadfast.
From the rough waves of the Atlantic's embrace,
To the Pacific's vastness, she carved her grace.

In the shipyard's cradle, she rests with pride,
A guardian on land, where the tides can't hide.
Her decks whisper tales of courage and might,
As the paint glistens, reflecting the light.

The Texas, a legend, weathered and strong,
Her legacy stretches, an epic tale long.
From World Wars to peacetime's gentle call,
She stood tall, never to falter, never to fall.

Oh, battleship proud, in the dry dock's care,
Your silhouette echoes the ocean's air.
A sentinel watching, with history to share,
The Texas, resplendent, in the shipyard's lair.

May the fresh paint glow, a beacon anew,
A symbol of honor, in red, white, and blue.
For the USS Texas, in dry dock she rests,
A guardian of freedom, her legacy best.

Let the waves of time roll on with grace,
As the Texas awaits, in her resting place.
For when duty calls, and the seas beckon wide,
She'll sail once again, with the tide by her side.

She has survived two World Wars, and years of neglect, yet she is still majestic.

It’s amazing that this ship is over 100 years old now and looks back in fighting form

My state has taken a lot of keyboard flak from all of the armchair restoration volunteers around the world because of the previously deteriorated condition of this battleship. I'm so happy the USS Texas is now getting the funding and attention that it deserves. Thanks as always for your videos, keep 'em coming!

As a young boy going to school in Houston, I remember the many field trips my classes took to the Battleship Texas very fondly. I was amazed by the ship and tried to imagine what it felt like to serve aboard such a ship during wartime. Fast forward to 1986 when I joined the US Navy and served aboard the USS Iowa (BB-61) near the end of the Cold War and then the USS Wisconsin (BB-64) during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Being a Battleship Sailor is something I will forever cherish.

My brother and I got to take one of the last drydock tours on Sunday before she underwent her Navy blue paint application on Monday! So privileged and honored to get to see her in all her glory!

I really like the music you chose today. A bad-ass ship deserves seriously intimidating music. Texas wasn't a showboat, it was a war machine. Hey, Don't Mess With Texas.

Thanks for keeping us updated! You’re doing a better job than anyone I’ve found at documenting the changes along the way.

Man the Ol' Girl cleans up nice. Glad she finally got the TLC she so needed. Funnily enough, I didn't even realize she had the raised letters of her name until they got her into drydock.
