Something about Celeborn being on the last ship made me really sad. Like he was the one who volunteered to turn off the lights and lock the doors before closing the Elf store forever. He probably wasn’t but I picture him being really sad about the literal end of an era. Several eras really.

I remember reading UT for the first time and learning his name Teleporno. I was laughing my a** off for days. Over time I forgot a lot of things from unfinished tales but the name Teleporno remained engraved in my mind. I hope that I’ll remember it till my death for that one last laugh before the death claimes me.

I LOVE the section of Unfinished Tales about all of the different variations of Celeborn and Galadriel's history. And for a character who holds such weight to several incredibly important characters in the series, it's a shame we don't get much more about Celebrian in the histories of MIddle Earth.

It's remarkable that Galadriel fell in love with a Sinda, a Moriquendi, who had never been to Valinor. There are many signs that he had a tempering influence on Galadriel's fire (though he also had some fire of his own, notably his mistrust of dwarves), and surely some of this was that he was more grounded in Middle-earth than she, having been born there without ever have experiencing the highs and lows, the sins and sorrows, that brought Galadriel to him. Indeed, her subjects and most of those she associated with were also Moriquendi. She always seemed to want to leave her painful past behind her and Celeborn was surely an important factor in doing so.

Every time I hear one of these, I realize I missed so much in the books and am amazed by the details. I read them in my teens so I skipped over or forgot it. These videos are inspiring me to read them again. Ive never read the Lost Tales so Ill get that one too. I wish Tolkein would have brought the Entwives back though. I like to imagine in an alternate universe that the ents found them and they compromised between spending time with the ents in Fangorn and the rest tending their newly regrown gardens in the Brown Lands.
