The date has been set. American forces are set to leave Afghanistan in 2014. The U.S. military is beginning to wind down their presence in Afghanistan. A point of pride of much of the Democratic National Convention and by Barack Obama himself.

Is Afghanistan ready? Are local security forces ready to handle insurgents without US involvement? Or is it about time the US got it's military nose out of Afghanistan? You should know.

Why care? We should just leave, those who want it most will come out on top, let them settle it their own way.

Maybe I'm wrong, but the reason we care is because we want a stable government structure when we withdraw. U.S. interests are very important in that area and as a country protecting those pov's including financial and humanitarian is vital to how the U.S. operates and is perceived in that region.

Bombs and guns will not help in the popularity contest and the way we give out money makes us seem foolish, respect comes from setting the example as a people, not false wars and charity. just my opinion
