I was just at the dentist for a cleaning, and she was talking about this. She told me she was telling all her patients because she was “so so scared for people and didn’t want anyone to make that mistake!”

The AUDACITY to put "Dental assistant, self taught" in your bio is crazy.

Oh lord. Trusting someone who DIDN’T go to school for 8 years and then get real-world experience to drill your teeth is beyond insane. We only grow one set yet people are trusting random idiots to Dremel the hell out of their chompers?!? 🤦‍♂️

why in the world would you trust anyone but a dental professional to do your veneers? 😭😭

So my Brother ended up getting a blood infection that caused Endocarditis when he had his wisdom teeth removed by an actual oral surgeon, that resulted in almost 6 months in the hospital and a heart valve replacement at the age of I'm both enraged that these "techs" would do something that could cause so much harm and worried for the people they're doing this on...

Edit: I want to say that the doctor wasn't the problem and this more then likely would have happened anyway, its more of a "look this happened even under optimal conditions, imagine what could happen if the person doing the procedure had no/minmal training and a non sterile environment"

My old therapist had a tooth infection which lead to a heart infection. She was in the hospital for months after multiple heart surgeries. These people are dangerous!

this is so insane. To get a job as a stylists assistant at a HAIR SALON I need to get a gods dam SHAMPOO license 💀💀💀 You can self-teach many things, but when you are working on other people you need a certification recognised by your local government!! Nail techs, MUAs, at home hairdressers….all of them need to be certified in ordered to legally start a business out of it. AND ALL THOSE THINGS ARE REVERSIBLE 😭

As someone with veneers, finding this was a trend was absolutely horrifying. If someone doing my teeth told me they took a single course on this and nothing else no amount of gas or drugs could keep me in that chair. This needs to be reported.

I hope the victims of this know that waiver means nothing and they can and should sue for the cost of getting a real dentist to fix their teeth. They should also report these “techs” to whatever state board manages dentistry.

This is so scary, like people being a “veneer tech” basically bypassing the over 8 years of school to be an actual dentist? Jeez this can’t be real life 🤦🏾‍♀️ also I mean it’s sad that these people are trying to make a bargain to have nice teeth because dental work is so expensive. This is just crazy overall

This takes “beauty is pain” to a whole new level. But seriously tho, these ppl who got their teeth done are crazy for caring about how their teeth look MORE THAT THEIR HEALTH 💀

best thing you can do to prolong the health of your teeth is - try to brush after every meal, try to eat minimum junk food, dont smoke dont drink, dont breathe through your mouth much, make sure your nutrition is complete every single day(calcium and protein are the most important but none of it will matter much if you arent getting ALL the macro and micro nutrients REGULARLY) and finally, if you have a problem like uncontrollable clenching (while awake or asleep) get medical guards for them so you wont literally break your own teeth with prolonged pressure.

A waiver does not protect anyone if there is blatant negligence and if the tech has zero qualifications to do it. The only time a waiver will actually apply is when a person did all the reasonable steps to prevent any damage and they did their best for the benefit of the client/patient

In PR we call veneers "perridientes" (directly translates to "doggy-teeth"). Because they look like the 'dentastix' smilling dog mascot Pedigree has😂

But fr, unqualified at home techs have been a problem for YEARS in the "self care" industry (i.e. hairdressing, nail artistry, esthetics, etc...) and tiktok has only exacerbated this issue by giving customers a false sense of security.

Insert classic saying... " if it sounds too good to be true..." This is another example of why education is important.

I took a business management course in college. One of the most illuminating things I learned was that liability waivers are vurtually worthless. You cannot sign away someone's liability.
