2 Dead, At Least 10 Injured After Boat Capsizes

At least two people are dead, including a child, and 10 others injured after a boat capsized in the Hudson River. Twelve people were on board when it capsized just before 3 p.m. on Monday afternoon. The captains of two passing ferries stopped to help save the passengers, who were tourists visiting from Colombia. “This is a tragic day for New Yorkers, indeed it may well have been worse,” NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewel told reporters. Im from colombia on vacation with my family at the moment. This is one of my worst nightmares, a tragedy when everythings suposed to be fun and happy times. God help this family stay strong, losing a little angel is the worst thing i could imagine.

Having an over loaded boat is a horrible mistake a lot of captains do, don’t over load your boat lads

This is why you read the safety info about your boat such as maximum capacity. If you fail to do so the deaths of multiple people can be on your hands

That boat was clearly overloaded. Whoever was the captain and allowed all those people out there on that busy Waterway is at fault.

Way too many people on a boat that small. It likely has a 5-6 person limit. These limits aren't a joke, don't overload your boat!

it’s so horrible, and my heart goes out to the victims, , but what’s even more sad is knowing these deaths very likely could’ve been avoided if they had all been wearing life jackets like they should’ve been and if the boat wasn’t over capacity…. such a tragic and pointless loss of life, i hope the family is reviving and not beating themselves up too bad :(
