Hindu to Atheist to Christ: An Engineer's Fascinating Journey

In 2004, I was a new speech therapist in an elementary school, not knowing anything about apologetics (formerly).

It was a family from southern India (their sweet daughter was a student of mine) which shared about apologetics with me. They also taught me how many families in India take the name of Christians as their new name. Theirs was Benjamin.

Fast forward to 2013, we were going to church in chapel hill, NC. Our pastor there, Jay Thomas, was also was India. His name was taken from the apostle Thomas. It has been a immense blessing meeting these families! I have learned so much from them…Blessings, brother!

I think you might enjoy my dad’s story from a Hindu priest family, next in line to the position, how he heard the gospel, how the devil tried to keep him from converting to Christianity, council meetings to condemn him to death, how God rescued him, how he became an evangelist walking through the thick forest to preach and plant churches throughout the state, evangelizing through transworld radio, then becoming a pastor, starting his ministry, translating Bible in our language and printing the first KJV Bible and many more. Fascinating. I’m actually trying to get him to do audio recording of his testimony so I can write a book. He’s nearing his 80 now and still very busy in our Father’s business. I don’t even get to talk to him everyday. And yes we are Indians.

Getting into IIT is probably the toughest for the Brahmins cos they are not given any quota. Dear Ganesh, as a Christian living in India, your story makes me so happy for you. God bless.

How awesome to hear! My dad is Hindu, and I keep hope alive for him to learn the truth. I thank God every day for my mother's faith and unceasing prayer for my encounter with Jesus and coming back to the church. If God can save me and so many others with our complicated stories, he can save anyone! <3

I too was born to a hindu family (business caste) and then became a humanist. Later became a strong Christian and got baptized. My wife was a brahmin who was also baptized :) we are from North India.

Listening Ganesh's testimony brought me to my own memory how I questioned who God was and was afraid of death from the age of 8 yrs old. Found freedom and truth when I accepted Christ from being a Buddhist Hinduism Sai Baba follower which was all so confusing and man made. No more afraid of death as I know by accepting Christ I have eternal Life and freedom. Praise God for giving me the analytical mind that lead me to discover who God really is.
