Working 12-Hour Shifts & Achieving Goals

Working full-time and developing a side project is a difficult thing. Most people work 8-hours per day and they feel tired after completing their work journey so much that they feel down when it comes to investing in a side project.

However, some people are not willing to give up and still work on side projects so that they can advance in their careers.

What if you worked during 12-hour shifts but still wanted to achieve your goals? How can you find time? How can you optimize your schedule for full productivity?

I am on 12 hour shifts, 3-5 days a week. I prepare meals, clothing, vitamins, etc. on my last day off before the work week. I listen to podcasts, audio books, or language lessons during my commute. I also bring notes to review during my breaks, thereby gaining an hour a day of study time.

Started working at a dairy 12 hour shifts it's not my first job with 12 hour shifts but it is the first time the money is worth it so I just focus on what more money can do for me a whole different life style for my kids.

If you can, I'd suggest that you start that one thing you want to do in the morning, or an hour or two before whenever you go to work. At the end of a long day, I think it's going to be a lot more difficult to have the motivation to take another hour or two to work on your personal goals.

I live an hour from work, and my commute is all audio books or podcasts - actually all my time in the car is. I've listened to Soft Skills and highly recommend it, time well spent.

What the guy is asking is "How can I have energy to do the stuff even though I work 12 hours a day?".

There is always enough time but the problem is lack of energy. And you won't have it with such schedule unless you're on Aderall or other heavy stuff.

The hursh truth is that those crazy workaholics that we see in movies or hear about either take a lot of chemicals (just like in bodybuilding) or get paid copios sums of money so
they stayed motivated.

Working out after a 12hour work shift is hard, especially when you work day or night and your workouts are advance(intense).

This is true, I used to work door to door sales and i would work 14 hour days with 1 hour commute time 6 days a week. did this for 7 months, I literally had no life besides this job.

Excellent video John, I appreciate you covering the practical topics. On days when the 'question asker' is not in the factory during those 12 hours, he should still be working 12 hours a day, on other things to forward his success: such as education, fitness, hobbies, networking, volunteering... I know, easier said than done, but hopefully my suggested approach could be helpful?

I am doing 12 hr shifts 6 days a week. I take holidays regularly. 4 days on with 3 off would be awesome.

I work industrial construction, welding, ironwork, etc. Usually 12 hr. shifts but sometimes 10. Commute is roughly 50 mins. to an hour and 15 each way. Mostly 5 days with occasional 6 day weeks. Got two little kids. My wife also works full time. Got two little ones under 3 and if I do anything other than spending time with them at home I feel like I’m taking away from them. After chores, projects, a possible weekend outing, I’m left with nothing. Not sure how people do it and find any balance.

If you have nothing to do in home after 8hr... spending in company then you have to do 12hr. Work... because when you are staying in home no one give u money 💸 if these 4hr. Extra you spend in company your salary also increase....

The video title is confusing. Of course, working 12hours is a YEs yes to achieving your goals. Though this is working a shift!

Cool though : p
