I've been there. Its the closest thing to dying. I mean, one moment you feel your heart squeeze in your chest, legs buckling due to the strain, and your lungs...puffing like air refuses to go in. Then you remember the basic rule...keep breathing. Just keep on breathing. Then after a while, everything diminishes. You dont exactly become numb. The feel of being exhausted becomes irrelevant. Feet and arms start to move in rythm. Your heartbeat is oblivious to any pressure. Every deep breath is no longer a struggle. You loose track of time and distance covered. So you keep on going. And then you snap just before the end then you realize, your gonna be sore for the rest of the day. Or maybe two. But your gonna do it again. Because it felt that good. 😁

You get an arm pump from working arms, leg pump from working legs, but after a run it’s a mind pump. Running is mostly a mental challenge, it’s different from lifting weights. I can also second that a runners high is a real thing🙋‍♂️

Just being outdoors is already a high for me. That’s because I’m in the office 12-13 hours a day every weekday.

That moved me to tears.
I experienced the runners high only once (when I was much younger) and I will never forget the bliss I experienced. It was PE class, outside on the school’s track, struggling for awhile and then towards the end of the run, it’s like tons of resistance suddenly lifted. And unbelievably I, as this chubby kid, started running faster than everybody, with ease and glee. And I didn’t want to stop running. I felt like I could run forever and I wanted to. It felt magical. Now decades later, even more chubby, lol, but I never kept up with physical activity. I want that kind of organic euphoria again, but constant. Thanks for the activation.

I'm a recovering addict and the runners high is something I have no shame in admitting I'm addicted to!! I DOVE back into running after not doing it since I was in the Army like a decade ago. And within a few weeks I had already pushed myself to do a 12 mile run and also a 5 mile run with my weighted vest on, just going absolutely hard on myself and pushing myself beyond my boundaries. Welp . . . I ended up fvcking up my neck with the vest on and now I've been out of the gym for 4 days and completely took the wind out of my sails. I'm gonna keep pushing though!!!!

Had my first runners high ever after starting running 5 weeks ago. It was a top 2 experience in my life. Almost spiritual.

The smoke from the forest fires has kept me from running for over a week now. I am experiencing Runner's withdrawal.

I don’t know how you manage to post these videos that always hit that spot that gives you chills.

I feel like I’ve lost my way a little bit the last week, it’s been more about the grind and not the enjoyment. That I should be out there doing what’s suppose to be a enjoyment.

I know there will be injury, discomfort and exhaustion that comes with it. But getting back to that plateau that is the runners high makes it worthwhile. That feeling of your on top of the world and nothing can touch it in that moment.

I hate my trainers being soaking wet and muddy. I get around this by having a pair of trainers I wear for those kinda days.
If I don’t feel strong I’ll run/walk and take in the beauty of the land. Don’t be hard on yourself. Run because you love to run...

I love that feeling after a good run!! I can feel like total crap, and go for run or even just a light jog, and it can completely turn my day or evening around! Runner's high is definitely real!

Spot on.I started my day with fartleks on a desert trail in the outskirts of Dubai.I cannot imagine my life without running. An immense sense of gratitude for being able to enjoy this simple activity is accompanying me in every run. There is pain sometimes but always in the background the certainty that I am where I want to be.Thank you for sharing.

I love this.. and yes! I think it totally exists too!! Not long after you start to consistently run you (or at least I) start to CRAVE the run. I’ll start thinking about running all time if I don’t give into the craving and it feels amazing to get back into it ☺️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
