I loved when JLC exclaimed “Shut Up!” when her name was announced. Not only does it remind me of Freaky Friday, but it’s her being her authentic self. I always liked Jamie Lee Curtis, because she’s a versatile performer who always brings 100% of her intelligence, charm, talent, confidence, strength and energy into every role she’s tackled ever since she made her film debut in Halloween. This, alongside her SAG acceptance speech, are two of the best award speeches of all time. Totally genuine, sincere and heartfelt. She did the right thing by relentlessly campaigning for not quite herself, but for the movie, her peers and Michelle. She successfully contributed to keeping EEAAO on full momentum throughout the award season. And I believe the academy voted for her victory due to her affable personality and as homage to her iconic career, but her performance in EEAAO shouldn't be denied at all. Her campaign only worked because there clearly wasn't a real strong, leading contender in this category this year.
