Good to finally see CAMM2 modules, finally. That said... next step is socketed CPUs and GPUs. Probably a dream...

Really appreciate this review and looks like a solid choice for an on the go editing machine. Do you see any issues with it running Adobe premier and rendering 4k videos. Any idea if/when the Gen8 will be out as we are will need an editing laptop by March this year.

cant believe they removed the physical clicks. I needed those to work with gloves on...

I think I'll get a newer generation of the P1 maybe after the Arrowlake is released. I've been wanting to upgrade my XPS 15 to the new XPS 16 but the only issue is they removed the dual SSD slots which sucks. This P1 seems to have all the same specs at a slightly cheaper price, and the dual SSD slots.

Thinkpad needs something like this with a decent igpu option, sleeker but with a touchpad that still has buttons and the ctrl key in traditional spot. Developer options in a 16 in form factor seem nonexistent atm from them.

Great review as always. Which 4k monitor is that? I'm looking for a monitor that has a USB-C hub, that's also good for gaming... but not OLED because the PWM flickering gets me so dizzy it's borderline unusable.

I have the Gen 6 chassis P1. I understand why Lenovo is experimenting with these changes, but not for me. I want the buttons, not screen bump, etc. This laptop was perfect last gen. They just should've improved the innards

I like seeing the new camm2 modules honestly, it's a welcome addition especially after the latest intel chips have ram seriously backed on.

Since actual MacBooks have everything soldered to the motherboard, I’m thinking of getting this P1 Gen 7 but with OLED display, just because it has an DCI-P3 color space, also because these machines are easy to repair and upgrade, something that it’s almost impossible to do with the macs, and also the fact that almost all of their parts are “serialized” or “linked” to the motherboard, and its price, too.

Macs nowadays are very expensive and hard to repair, while ThinkPads are still sort of “reliable and accessible” machines.

I own one with intel ultra 9, rtx 3000 ada, 64 ram and the fans usually run a bit loud on Cad programs

If they used an anodized chassis they would probably be able to dissipate more heat. I think the coating they have on the chassis, albeit thin, reduces the thermal conductivity.

The laptop mentions it supports only 64gb of camm2 memory, however i've seen 128gb camm2 modules available for purchase, even at high prices. Does Lenovo set it as 64gb hard limit, or just "available" limit with possible 128gb ceiling?

So, is this laptop worth it? After seeing some complains about temperatures and battery performance, I don't if it is the right choice for me. What do you think?

If I am going into mech e PhD is this a good laptop to pair with a pc workstation or should I wait for lunar lake to come out

I want it but I don't want it lol. Trackpad buttons gone is insane to me, I use those 1000 times a day and I'm not sure about the 2 tone colour. I cant believe I'm saying this but I think I'll stick to my g6 and see what the g8 is like!

Thanks for the review! 👍👍

I like it. Maybe I’ll buy it. As a civil engineering student i need the power but i have heard nothing good about the fan noise. Maybe I wait for the new lunar lake cpu or buy another laptop. But thinkpads are so durable and are common in the industry. Idk

Looks exciting except for the fan noise and temperatures. If only they could do more about those. Hey, ask them for the OLED models for review next time, hehe. May as well start with the best wink wink.
