The G0 phase or quiescent phase is a resting stage where cells have exited the active cell cycle and stopped dividing.
Cells in G0 remain metabolically active but do not proliferate unless stimulated by appropriate external signals.
G0 is considered part of the G1 phase, as cells can re-enter the cell cycle from G0 into the G1 phase.
