Sending Wood to Space?!? Why Scientist Want to Use Wood for Satellites and Other Spacecraft

Did you know that there is wood in space? Did you know that we have sent wood to the moon?!? You may not think of wood as a space age material, but NASA and other space agencies are doing experiments right now on wood in space and there are plans to launch wooden satellites in the near future. What happens to wood in space? Why would we want to use wood to build in space? Can wood be used in space? Those are all questions that I try to answer in this video.

I think that it is a great idea to build space craft out of wood! There is absolutely no reason why wood can't be used in outer space! Wood is very strong and durable.

Think of the deforestation. Making satellites from bamboo and hemp would probably work better in my opinion.

So, not about going to space and not about being on the space station (under pressure) I was wondering about vacuum. As many things explode from the internal pressure in space, I figured wood has air, water and those would destroy the fibers or their structure on the way out. I guess not exactly.

Like it's going to biodegrade in space' every thing that hits the atmosphere' burns up, otherwise' it's just more debree'! To tear up' 💩. Even Styrofoam' hurdling' 1, 000's of mph. Will.
