Matt was spot on at the end there
A discomfort with saying "I don't know" is pretty much the foundation for every religion

In other words, with every new discovery, another god dies.

Did this guy just use the argument from ignorance as an actual argument? It's a fallacy, not an argument. I mean it's text book.

Repeat with me:

"A wizard did it!" Is not a reasonable explanation when we have no idea about what caused a phenomenon

Wow. Matt hits it right there:
Ppl are just not able to say "I don't know"

They rather invent 'supernatural' to feel safe. They create a benevolent bogeyman to compensate for the insecurity inherent to life.

His power chart was like:

•Created a Universe in all its vastness and complexity
•Created complex life and organism
•Creating a spawn that can ressurect from the dead
•Flooding the ENTIRE planet
•Walking on water
•Plague
•Manipulating to create a cult
•Luck granting in exchange for a percentage of your salary
•Appearing on toast
•Giving you luck if you like a Facebook post
•Appearing on a Dog's ass

As you can see from the trend, his power is proportionally declining with the rise of intelligence and ability to record information.

As usual, Matt has a rational way of thinking, logic and common sense

When will these theists learn that debating Matt Dillahunty is a really bad idea?

Matt is probably the most correct current intellectual and he’s so underrated.

Idk how that religious fellow can be so comfortable with being a liar because that's pretty much what he just advocated for.

The trouble is that the mindset which doesn't want to say "I don't know" is also the mindset which doesn't want to say "I was wrong".

2 options

1) Natural Caused
2) Unknown Natural Caused

All we know is Natural.

To say something is "supernatural Caused" you 1st need to demonstrate the supernatural, 2nd then you need demonstrate a supernatural would care to cause.

Occams Razor.

"I don't know" is the hardest thing to admit to yourself.

Supernatural cause = magic.
These people need to grow up.

I have never understood how people can be so intelligent in one way but believe all sorts of crap from their religion 🤔 and if you say it objectively fake they say it’s not to be taken literally it’s fables that convey the right message- but it’s bloody awful some of it and it’s very rare to find a Christian that practices what they preach others aren’t quite as bad but I still wonder how people can believe in a book from 2000 years ago that has no actual proof of anything even tho people still look for it 😂 what a funny old world

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
"It's _my toy_ until *_you_* explain it" does not meet the threshold.

I long for the day where all humanity confronted with the inexplicable goes “I don’t have the answer, let’s work it out together” rather than attributing it to some kind of magical force.

Ho-hum. Classic god of the gaps.
And this was probably his best argument.
They never come up with anything new.
( edit, ok, , I was wrong, , , , they came up with something new.
I think this thread was hijacked by A I Spam Bots. They go on and on about semantics and definitions and nonsense. It's a complete waste of time. )

It's amazing how many people like this are willing to *give up* any semblance of *rational thought* and just instantly and readily *believe* in some *"supernatural" explanation.*
Which is *never an explanation at all !*
He basically admits that he's using *"supernatural"* explanations as a mere *placeholder* until the *actual* explanation is discovered.
It's just maddening.
