ABOUT STAR TREK DISCOVERY:

Star Trek: Discovery is an American television series created for CBS All Access by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman. It is the first series developed specifically for that service, and the first Star Trek series since Star Trek: Enterprise concluded in 2005. Set roughly a decade before the events of the original Star Trek series and separate from the timeline of the concurrent feature films, Discovery explores the Federation–Klingon cold war while following the crew of the USS Discovery. Gretchen J. Berg and Aaron Harberts serve as showrunners on the series, with producing support from Akiva Goldsman.

Sonequa Martin-Green stars as Michael Burnham, the first officer of the USS Shenzhou and later the USS Discovery. The new series was announced in November 2015, and Fuller joined as showrunner the next February. In addition to Fuller and Kurtzman, who wrote for previous Star Trek series and films, respectively, the crew includes several other previous Star Trek creatives. Fuller wanted to make an anthology series, beginning with a prequel season to the original series, but CBS asked that he make a single serialized show first. In October 2016, after further disagreements with CBS and struggles with other commitments, Fuller left the series. Berg and Harberts took over day-to-day production using a mythology and broad story arc established by Fuller, while Goldsman joined then as support.

The production put emphasis on carrying on the legacy of the previous series, including making efforts to feature a diverse cast. The values and designs of the Federation were updated for the series, but were expected to evolve towards those of the original series throughout Discovery's run. The show also heavily features the Klingon species, with the intent of exploring the central conflict from both perspectives. The Klingons were redesigned for the series, with influence from their previous appearances, the original inspirations for the species, and the novel The Final Reflection, as well as research on biology and evolution. The Klingon language is also extensively used. Discovery is filming in Toronto, and has filmed on location in Jordan.

Leland it toast. It was "AI" Leland. After he was stabbed in the eye, dead, or unconscious, you hear, "You should have all the power you need" from AI Leland.

Spock pointing the phaser was simply his logic saying saving the galaxy was more important than saving his sister.

I liked Hugh!’s conversation with Admiral Cornwall. I am a stroke survivor (24 years ago) and I remember my own emotions -including love- and a lot of them were a distant emotions, almost as if I was a different person.

This show is awesome! As for all the emotion for a character we hardly, don't look at the show as a fan watching a TV show. Try to look at it from the perspective of the shipmates. Then the emotion is warranted.

It was a bioneuralscan so it wasn't actually DNA. I assume that is how her mother finds her through space and time.

I loved this episode the show just keeps getting better week after week. Your show is good I like it. Just make Michael the captain already. That’s what I’d like to see.

Flobo must be the moderating influence because last week just about everything that was said was negative.

Dude, , remember Old Janeway.. went to see the klingons for that device to go back and save the voyager crew in the past.... and leland did say that klingons were the ones who pioneered the time travelling and the device stolen by janeway did worked... lalalala...

I had to laugh when you made the "unless she had Michael with a transgendered clone of herself" point. George RR Martin actually wrote a novella where a character literally was the transgendered clone of someone else, who had been intended to be raised to be the original person's lover. And he wrote that in the early 80s IIRC.

Thought I'd share that.

Wasn't the "time crystal" mentioned by Harry Mudd in season 1 from Betazed?

Good episode, alot going on, finally some more character development and saru was badass as normal, i truly believe he will be captain in season 3 since we know Pike wont be back :( Also, I think control AI is the one that stabbed Leland in the eye and decoy voiceover

I look forward to Captain Michael Burnham.

I think Red Angel Mom killed Leland (...the time-warp voice feedback and the tricked-out tech might be a clue...),

More and more I'm convinced that whenever Discovery finishes up, they're going to give us the sci-fi equivalent of "It was all a dream" so they can set the universe back to a place that makes sense for TOS... So many things that made my brain hurt trying to work out the logic... Like their 'mousetrap' - if the Red Angel really WAS Burnham, then their plan would never work as long as Burnham knew a SINGLE detail about it - after all, if she was privy to the planning 'now', she'd KNOW about it in the future... Or, an easy one - why did it seem like they pulled EVERY crew member to the funeral? They're comfortable leaving the bridge empty? Surely a Starfleet vessel has regs about abandoned posts... I'll keep watching, not because I enjoy it, and not even to 'hate-watch' - just because it feels inappropriate to complain without actually watching it, so I guess they've won regardless, it's just so very disappointing...

I thought spock mind melded with red angel. So he should know it was not Micheal.

Command was laying dormant. The system went down, then came back up again...Command coming online. It either has "taken over" Leland or created a duplicate. Also, "Time Crystal" is dumb. Very unscientific. Very un Star Trek.
