I'm 65 and have been doing what JT says before I viewed this. This just tells me I'm on the right path and I'll sleep better tonight. If I have one piece of advice to anyone who is walking in my shoes, see this as another life experience, not just a "winding down of work life." Your life never winds down, unless you say so. Go live it. Stay humble because within that humbleness is a great new life ahead.

This was helpful. As a 51 year old I am dreading getting on the job market again.

I’m not 50 but it’s closer than most on YouTube, but I have to say, podcasts/ blogs/ Discord channels can really catapult your understanding and mastery of a lot of technology. I have made mastering tech/ innovation not only a passion but a way I relate with and bond with my kids. (Not the cool dad but rather the nerdy dad) but knowing this has really impressed hiring managers.

Linked In has fully adopted hashtags. Use them to share and curate content. This is the sharing economy and it is based on ability to leverage technology. ... Thanks again, J.T. for sharing these insights!

Some really good points in here, and the only one that I would question is the advice to not be a Jack or Jill of all trades. I am in the SAP space, and have clearly focused upon warehouse management as my "expert" area. I have also been frequently criticized by recruiters for being too narrowly focused and have consistently worked to branch out into other areas. Maybe it's just my particularly industry, but what I see is a requirement for expertise in multiple areas.

What advice would you offer to someone that has been in the grocery industry for 30 years in stocking? Their job does not really require the need to use technology and so they have difficulty navigating through it. What accomodations should they request to even be considered for a job without being possibly discriminated because of their age?

What do you do if you’re 64 and have 30 years of experience as a lawyer and recently laid off?

Holy smokes. You’ve effectively made recruiters sound completely shallow and really un-needed. I recommend bypassing recruiter’s when possible, treat yourself as a business, and sell your services. In the end you provide a service someone pays to attain.

I can save you money it doesn't matter what industry I've already worked in it and proving my worth now I'm busy mending fences that the homeless cut into and I'm 58

You need to be a lot more positive towards workers that are 50 and over. So look and sound angry or prejudice/bigoted towards this audience.
