In this episode, I dive headfirst into the Big One. The Japanese Maple gets another custom box because I just don't have the perfect pot yet. My audio also conked out a lot, so more voice-over. My inner Blue Jay Bonsai came out. Enjoy!

Nice work Dave. You could sell your footage and do a Tide laundry commercial. That was one messy repot. You’ve really got those roots looking good. Hopefully it will put on some nice growth this season. Thanks, keep growing

Wow, that was awesomeness right there, brother. Heck if a job handling that root ball. That was a blast! I’m definitely coming back for the update.

Beautiful formal upright tree...I think it's perfect for broom style...🙂

I think it was a lot of effort, but worthwhile. Given time and some t.l.c, it will grow tide in it's new cascet, thank you for sharing!

Another super video. It will be interesting to see the development of this tree. I would try another air layer for sure as opposed to just chopping!

I keep thinking how nice the tree would look in your Chinese pot to your left 😂

I suppose maybe this comes a little late as I am sure you have done this actual work some time ago. but if sometime in the future, you get a similar maple tree. those large peices of root you cut off with the saw could have bee potted up and there is a good likelihood that they would sprout shoots and could very easily become trees in their own right..

dude let the tree grow for a year then cut it in half during fall and you will get all the back budding you need in one season without fail...
