E3 2023 Is Canceled - IGN Daily Fix

In today's Daily Fix:
The ESA has officially announced that E3 2023 isn't happening. The writing was on the wall when Ubisoft, Sega, and a few other big name companies pulled out, so it isn't that surprising. Only time will tell if the ESA will try again next year, but that doesn't mean the summer is devoid of gaming events. Stay tuned to IGN where we'll be covering all the Directs, Showcases, and other events. February's game sales numbers are in, and Hogwarts Legacy topped the list with more than 12 million sold. Microsoft also revealed their Games with Gold lineup for April, and it's what you'd expect. In bummer news, EA is laying off around 6% of the company, which is about 775 employees. And a Nintendo exclusive is an exclusive no more, as Square Enix's Live A Live is coming to PC, PS4, and PS5 later this year.

Nothing from modern gaming beats the hype from pre-2019 E3.

Everything we ever loved is dead or dying. As we plunge further into a hellish corporate dystopia, we will have nothing but memories of a better time.

Unless you lived through E3 back in the 2000s, you don’t get the hype. Times have changed and E3 just isn’t needed in 2023

If somehow E3 2024 doesn’t get cancelled, it would’ve been 5 years since the last E3 in 2019. They would have to make it a big event in celebration for coming back after half a decade of absence.

I'm sad that E3 has cancelled due to the big gaming publisher's decline invitation to this year's E3 for to the recently announced first in-person event and it didn't happen.

One word. Bummer.

It's no surprise that psvr2 is failing out the gate with that lackluster rollout.

E3 was on life support for years, it's no surprise it's canceled and it wouldn't be a surprise if we never see another e3 again. What's the point of it? devs and publishers can make a youtube channel and release info as they please. The internet made E3 obsolete it was only kept going more out of tradition

It will be sadly missed, always looked forward to it

That's a letdown; they should have used it to spotlight indie gaming, which is exploding.

I’m really enjoying these longer fix episodes with more than 1-2 stories lately - much better collection of the days news :)

That was an inevitability once the big players started pulling out. It caused a domino effect.

E3 is basically Finished, Covid 19 killed it.

Experiencing life in real time and in person is slowly fading and my disappointment is immeasurable 😐

Here we go again😒 at this point the developers should just stick to online trailers for their games.
