Here's the thing that most people don't seem to understand: The XS isn't meant for iPhone X users. It's meant more as an upgrade for iPhone 8, 7 or 6S users.

A11 chip was already a beast so apple tried to make A12 make it little bit faster because it's gonna be a newer chip of the current year.

Neural engine doesn’t affect the app launching speeds. It’s CPU intensive stuff. Launching the smaller apps you can see a bit of an improvement with the XS which is in line with the 15% increase Apple claims. But again this year that was not the focus, rather it’s the graphics and that neural engine with is responsible for those great camera improvements you mentioned

iPhone x is the best value for money at the moment, I went from 7 to X and I don't regret at all, since iPhone X, X's have charging issue from factory and lots of bugs
