My wife and I just spent a whole month up in the Boise area. More specifically in Star, Idaho. I stayed with my childhood friend. I am from that dreaded state California. However I am from the most conservative part in Bakersfield, California. My wife and I found your traffic to be terrible, without a doubt. It appears your infrastructure, roads, is ten years behind the building of homes and rentals. I love conservative traditional values. I am retired and was thinking of moving out of California, as I do not like the way our state is headed. However our infrastructure has kept up with the building boom. So much so that there are people moving here from Los Angeles which is 1.5 hours south of Bakersfield. I did look at some of your cities outside of the Boise. Such as Emmet, Weiser, and of course McCall. Those places looked interesting 👀 as they remind me of what Idaho used to be. One final point I wish to make, all of this California hate does not serve your community well. In fact you say how friendly your community and state are but it doesn't feel that way. You all need to get over your hate as it does nobody any good. I have been reading the comments over the past year from about 7 different Realtors in the Boise area. All the Realtors show the Boise area without any traffic. So your pictures must be taken early in the morning. Anyway the greater Boise area has many things going for it, but your infrastructure is not good at this time. Just an honest observation after having spent one month in your area. September 10th to October 12th of this year. My friend wants me to move there, but I don't know at this point. Thank you pointing out the obvious.

Leaving Idaho was the best thing to happen in my life. Boise a town for going nowhere.

I came from the Seattle area (don't worry, red voter here), and one of the things I like is how easy it is to get around. Traffic here is not too bad, and the drivers are great. I guess having come from where the traffic is horrible makes things look different.

My Parents retired in Boise back in 1991, I get why people compare the current landscape to how it was. I traveled to Boise nearly every year for Christmas and or summer visits. Mom and Dad are both gone now.
Honestly, I half planned to also retire in the Treasure Valley, not any more. It has gotten too built up, that small town vibe is gone. Harris Ranch was ranch, there was only a smattering of houses on that side of town. Nampa did not 'almost touch' Boise. I like progress, but as a soon to be retiree, my wife and I are looking for something way less populated.

So people moved from California. Those people jacked up housing prices and are complaining about lack of food diversity.😮

The tree lined streets and proximity to downtown of the North End, and some great streets with historic houses, is really nice (politics aside).

I live in Boise and love it. My two biggest complaints are that the politics are too conservative and all the California hate. Boise is a great community, however it suffers from some small minded ideas.

The people that moved to Idaho crack me up and just need to stay home they move here to get away from the politics that they created but forget to change their voting habits

Hey Brady, how often do people move to the treasure valley without high paying jobs? With housing prices and wages it seems like a bad idea for me to come. You mentioned that you can save money on areas like taxes and utilities. Would you say that lower income people are making it okay as new comers?

I am considering moving to Boise to be with my son and his wife. They are soon to have a baby. They love Boise for the quality of life and could have picked any city in the western US to start a family. He works for a national consulting company that cleans up contaminated water.

Theres reasons to move were because the small town atmosphere the friend hello on the street that often continues into a conversation. They also like the diversity, since it represents the real world.
I must agree. I was responsible for beliefs of living in a country where everyone has freedom no matter who they are. Boise has a heart and will fight to protect their rights for their freedoms.
As I am from inner city Houston. I know diversity can live together.
Boise is just going through growing pains.

Boise is a great place to live. But the wildfire smoke combined with heat in the summer is a bummer. Also, they are ruining the greenbelt with all of the scooters, electric bikes, and idiots who ride on both sides of the path.

Round a bouts are people, not so much behind the wheel. I live in Olympia Wa....watched many 4 way intersections turn to RA....so much better.
I would also rather live in a freedom state😊

Never been to Boise-- but would like to visit. Question: Does it have a major University in the 'Leftist' part of town? I live in a pretty clean / sane Conservative city. But the second you take that turn into the University district, suddenly it's rainbow flags, BLM, Free Palestine and Harris-Waltz signs everywhere. It's not just the students but the Professors and Administrators who brainwash them. So, it's not so much Californians fleeing their Marxist state and bringing their politics with them. It's the University (what I like to call, Communist Indoctrination Mills). They are what's turning your town Left-- even if you're in a red state.

My suggestion for all of us... is to contact your governor, representatives and legislators and begin demanding change. These schools (which are often the biggest employers in town) hire at rates like, 98% Liberal. That's not right. We need to bring balance back to our universities, so students are exposed (not indoctrinated) to a variety of social, political and economic viewpoints-- including Conservatism which is the majority mindset of most people living in Idaho.

There's no reason a red state like Idaho simply needs to accept that their schools will be run by anti-white, gay worshiping Stalinist antisemites who worship mother Earth and hate America.
