The Ohio Attorney General’s Office will handle the charges filed against NewsNation Correspondent Evan Lambert, whom officers arrested Wednesday in Ohio, where the reporter was delivering a live news report.

The Columbiana County Prosecutor’s Office in Ohio was initially handling the case but later turned it over to the attorney general after learning multiple police agencies were involved in the incident, according to a news release. The office’s special prosecution division will take over the matter.

End qualified immunity! Make each officer personally liable! When you fear integrity and accountability, when you serve your ego instead of serving the public trust, you are NOT the good guys!

As a 20-year Army retiree, I think the Major General should be facing UCMJ and civilian punishment for assaulting a civilian. If he thinks it's ok to put his hands on a civilian reporter in this manner just think about the power and authority he thinks he has over lower-ranking troops in his command. This a perfect example of toxic leadership in our Armed Forces right here. He should have been the most professional one there being a Major General wearing a uniform saying U.S. Army. We join the military to defend our Constitution and the American way of life and this MAJOR GENERAL POS assaulted a reporter's First Amendment right to do his basic job as a journalist.

Needs to be a huge lawsuit over this.
Need to go after the prosecutor too.

The general was scared of the reporter that he walked across the room to confront him. I am shocked that the AG office is still pursing charges. How stupid can they be right now?

How is it that every one of these guys is required to take an oath to support and defend the Constitution as a condition of employment and yet, NONE of them has even the slightest clue as to what it says?

The Major General not only assaulted this civilian reporter, but then he lies about what he did.

Trying to block and actively pushing someone are two completely different things. We can all see the Major General instigate the altercation. It’s plain view.

There is a piece of video they seem to be deliberately keeping out of public view. There is a piece where the reporter is speaking to his studio down the camera. He states he will need to stop the link as the Governor is about to make a statement. He was not loud, nor was he interrupting anyone. It was as he finished his piece to camera that the "General" came across and assaulted him!!!

We are definitely in the era of liars, who if they don't get caught on video, get away with it. That excuse from the General is the stupidest thing I've seen from a general, he looks like a threatened baby and the 2 officers definitely used excessive force. I hope all 3 pay for their lack of ethics

Dewine's statement is ridiculous and he's desperately trying to "both sides" the issue. The National Guardsman escalated the situation and the 2 local deputies followed up the escalation by taking the reporter to the ground. The reporter was not a threat to anybody and the charges of disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing are totally bogus.

This whole situation really makes all the LEOs on the scence look petty, especially the bald headed Guardsman. The female guardsmen and trooper had to restrain him from repeated attempts to engage with the reporter.

As a life-long resident of Ohio I was not aware that the National Guard was responsible for monitoring the regular behavior of reporters at a press conference who are just doing their job. And I can't understand how the reporter was charged with "disorderly conduct" for trying to explain that he had a right to be there and do his job. And, IF Evan was being disorderly why didn't the any of the many troopers on the scene simply escort him from the The troopers appeared to be of equal size to the reporter and they could have easily restrained him if that were necessary.
