I personally dont think this console generation has been a disaster as there is and has been lots of great games. Im saying that as someone who owns and plays games on Xbox Series X, PS5, PSVR 2, Nintendo Switch and PC. I also play games on cloud.

I had a PS4 slim last gen. I bought an XSX day one and Gamepass Ultimate. This gen has been amazing for me. GPU has allowed me to play more games the last 4 years than I ever have before. I play a ton of MP- Halo, Apex, COD and Fortnite. All hit 120 fps. Lukather!

I said this on GTL last week, but it really feels like Sony and Microsoft were kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place with these consoles. They had to get something out around 2020 because the PS4 and Xbox One were really aging. 2020 was before really cutting-edge technologies like AI upscaling and heavy ray tracing became widespread and easily-accessible.
It means these consoles launched with ray tracing hardware, but in an extremely limited implementation, and the consoles had no real AI/ML capabilities to allow for advanced upscaling which is kinda needed for games with heavier ray tracing, not to mention no AI/ML to use for game mechanics.

I think PS6 and the next Xbox will be much more well-rounded machines since they should be very strong in both RT and ML.

The question is - how much will that help? AAA devs are simply making games that are too big and expensive and that take way too long to make.

30fps first party titles was revolting. But the absolute DEATHBLOW for Xbox was the pathetic decision to release their games on Playstation.

If Microsoft doesn't give a crap about the Xbox brand, there's no reason consumers should either. They're officially a joke in my book.

True 👍 Even Worse than the PS4/ONE gen :/ I miss the PS360 era :/ Nintendo might be outsiders but the switch delivered so much, I'm waiting for their new system. XSX and PS5 might be the last console I buy from Sony and Big M :/

Personally speaking this generation has been a major disappointment for me. Now Sony, having failed on their promises of 4K 60/120fps gaming, have the cheek to bring out a mid generation PS5 Pro and charge 700 big ones for it. I don't feel like the PS5 ever got going. I still see cross gen PS4/PS5 games coming out. Xbox have provided a dire experience for their users too. No games. Plenty of different coloured pads.

As a console gamer I feel let down. I won't be buying any new console hardware in the foreseeable future. Perhaps never again.

This console generation has taught me more than any other generation. I don’t have to buy in at the beginning of a new generation of consoles. The lack of games and innovation will now more than ever a wait and see consumer moving forward.

Lukather 😂😂😂😂 watched this twice before commenting, you’ve nailed it again, this Gen has been lost on all sides because of different things, PS is struggling because they’ve sold 60 million consoles but not 60 million first party PS5 games (even the 3rd party exclusives) Xbox is struggling because these boxes are built for tech that Devs arn’t using because PlayStation doesn’t use it and only the high end PC market does… the problem is these companies lost the scope of what they do and have all set themselves on getting all the money and all the screen time, it just doesn’t work that way. God knows why they based all their projections on COVID numbers… every company did and every company has come up short
