Approaching the dock with too much speed, pushed by wind from astern, we come in too hot and avoid a minor docking fail

Bit fast for my taste, I go slower, but nothing failed there. Still a successful docking.

I dock a boat on average 25-30 times a day and we dock about that speed. Difference is we back it down and stop the boat before the deck hand ties it off. If that line was for the center cleat on the boat she should have reversed and stopped before he wrapped. But this looks like it was for the aft cleat, so the question is why the aft cleat first?

Not “too hot”. Why is that a fail? No drama. Safely tied up at dock.

Looks fine. You wrote in some answers that you have prop walk to port. I assume you mean it would push the stern away from the dock in this example?

Then yeah, makes total sense to tie the stern line first. I don't know you're boat, but just before the line is taut, I'd still reverse to take the speed out. Your prop walk wouldn't matter anymore and probably keep the bow closer to the quay.

That said: the best seamen are in the comments 😂

Little fast, just a short rev burst. and if the stern is tight, slowly put in forward and the bow will come to the dock. And if there are cleats you don’t have to step of the boat, it’s safer and easier.

Wasn't too hot it was wrong angle and failure to stop the boat with a second or 2 of reverse power

What's the problem? Maybe some reverse to stop the boat, but other than that it looks fine.

Not that bad. Aproach angle was wrong but i wouldnt say it was too fast.

You always learn something new!
I never knew that it is optional to tie your line to the boat. ;)

Nice of you to show the little things. :)
