If you're storing a half an avocado. Store the half that still has the seed in it after you've cut it in half. It'll stay good for days.

This is really helpful. I can't stand when my avocados get browned after a day.

In my country, once you open an avocado you should cover it with lemon juice and leave in the stone. Place it in an airtight container and put it in the fridge. You can store avocado slices in an airtight container but don't forget the lemon juice or lime juice.

What about wrapping cut avocadoes in Saran Wrap to keep the air off them?

Pretty sure any oil also works to stop oxidation.

I have struggled for years with storing the leftover half of avocado 🥑 even just overnight. The best and foolproof way to guarantee that there will be zero oxidation, and it looks as fresh as the day your cut it open is to seal it up using a foodssver vacuum sealer. The rot and brown that happens is oxidation from air reacting to the berry's soft flesh. Remove all ways for air to come in contact with it and it will not spoil visually or taste wise. I have tried the cling film (many layers), press and seal with cling film layers, veggie oil, lemon juice, and all the combinations of thereof, none of these worked. The vacuum foodsaver sealer is the only thing that I have found to successfully store the unused portion.

I wonder if baking soda water will do the trick to both preserve the avocado and keep the bacteria from growing…. First clean the skin with vinegar and water then store the whole thing in baking soda water maybe…? 🤔 I’ma try it! 😅

You should not store avocados in water, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA says that storing avocados in water can lead to foodborne illnesses because any bacteria on the avocado's skin, like salmonella or listeria, could multiply in the water. The FDA also found that listeria can potentially seep into the avocado's pulp while it's refrigerated and submerged in water.

Hate the smell of onions and the oil is almost $6 dollars. The lemon is going to be the cheapest and easiest. Also it is because you are keeping it in an airtight container, bet a vacuum sealer will do the trick even better.

😂Thanks for this tip, been trying to find another way besides putting water on top. That only last 1 day.

Can’t you just scrub and clean the skin first before placing it whole into the water? 🤔

avoid pils in spray containers. Get the bottles oil. Healthier to go bottled
