The Religions Of Scadrial | Mistborn Lore

Показать описание
Religion is one of the major themes in the Cosmere. In fact, there’s not a single Cosmere book where Brandon Sanderson doesn’t at least touch on Religion in some aspect.
This isn’t anything bad, however. I’ve found that, to make your stories seem real and believable, you will need to include some kind of religion in the setting.
From my perspective, religion is one of the core themes within the human condition. It’s a set of beliefs based on faith that developed all over the world in isolation and complete independence. We clearly have a need in our psyche to believe in something greater than ourselves. Some of us follow a philosophy or set of principles that fulfil that role, whilst most go for the full gamut that is a religious faith.
Knowing that this belief is so ingrained in the human psyche, I can now understand why many people believe as fervently as they do. Some feel it gives them solace during difficult times. Some see it as a set of guiding morals by which they can live their lives. Others find that it holds answers to questions nothing else has been able to answer in a satisfactory way. The reasons why are as varied as there are individuals, but to say that religion is important to people is an absolute understatement.
It’s because of this that I believe Sanderson gives religion such a prominent role in his stories. Not just because of how important his faith is to him, but because of how important faith is to most people. It resonates on an emotional level with a lot of people. That, and it’s just damn good worldbuilding.
Now in today’s short video, I just want to go over some of the most prominent religions on the planet of Scadrial.
