Lived in Anchorage for a dozen years and this is absolutely true! There are things to do in the winter, but you MUST do them to avoid the depression and addictions! Oh. And take your vitamin D like it's going out of style!

That was my grandmother who only lived 10 Miles away. As you were saying goodbye, she said at least 3 times 'come back soon'. And we visited her at least once a week!!

Too funny! Soo true! 1/12th of the year is ideal! We are about an hour from Seattle....it seems we are ALWAYS waiting for the sun to come out.
Once, walking out of the grocery store, i asked a young guy, "WHAT IS THAT?!" i pointed up to the sky;

There's plenty of summer in the midwest... if you don't mind not being able to breathe. There are still plenty of warm to hot days from May through October, so that wipes out most of autumn. Still beautiful but warm. Winter wipes out most of spring.☹️
