Great Wall of China damaged

Two people have been detained in China after allegedly damaging a section of the Great Wall in the northern Shanxi province with an excavator, according to state broadcaster CCTV. #cnn #news

The Great Wall of China isn’t one wall… It’s a series of walls interconnected over the dynasties. The wall damaged wasn’t the stone wall everybody thinks of, it was an earthen mound near the coast.

The photos we have of the wall is of the later, medieval wall. Much of the length is beaten earth. A fabulous method of construction. But that is the section of the wall that is most degraded. An excavator could easily break through those weak sections. I am concerned about the lack of respect for ancestors.

The great wall of China is not always a great wall. In some part barely visible, it would make sense a farmer to open a road without even noticing it. Then come journalists.

I believe they wanted to see if the phrase "Your @$$ is grass" would literally apply to their destiny. I feel that the government will go with "WE gonna escavate a mudhole in your @$$€$, and bulldoze it dry".

Deliberately damaging the great wall of 🇨🇳 China is horrible. It's over 2500 years old and was built by many thousands maybe millions of people who were not compensated for their labors. Many died during construction and buried in most cases in or around the construction site. The wall 🧱 was built by slaves. Nameless and faceless the world 🌎 will never know. This act of destruction is a disgrace and dishonors the people who built the Great Wall of China. It is their memorial.❤
