I ran up on your videos a few days ago while studying my security + cert. I absolutely love the videos, thank you for making them !

Well said. Before I got my degree in Cyber Security I came across so much misinformation about cybersecurity and which degree a person should get. I'm so glad I listened to myself and got a degree in something that I find extremely interesting.

I am a 30 (soon 31) year old who has been working in healthcare in laboratories since I was 17. I am Married and my wife and I are both considering going back to school with some degree of savings. We have no children. My question since you've had a background in all 3 disciplines is at the 2 year associates level what are the job outlooks like? We would perfer to go to school 4 years directly but would incur some very heavy private debt. We have thought of doing cybersecurity or CS for our associates and saving for 1-3 years before going back to school for our BS. What is the better career field in this regard in your opinion?

The question in the title itself is going inside my head for a while as I'm trying to figure out what to do for my higher studies and I'm glad I found your channel (from another video of yours). Computer Science, Software Engineering and IT are quite popular courses here in Sri Lanka, but Cybersecurity on the other hand is much less popular here, even a single Government University doesn't directly offers that course though there are pvt universities and other options for that.

I was all set to follow a CS degree but the idea of doing a cybersecurity degree crossed my mind as I really like privacy protection, and ethical hacking, not to look cool, but to respect and defend peoples' privacy (I know it sounds a little silly). Do you think cybersecurity would be bad for a person who is not so much interested in Hacking like you said about yourself (being the best hacker) as those mindsets benefit to progress through the career path ; but rather planning to do cybersecurity just for the mentioned preferences. Thank You!

I just recently found your channel and I love it! I have been working in cybersecurity for about 5 years now. I have a degree in cybersecurity and have 6 sans/giac certifications and I work as a cybersecurity detection engineer. I have shown my technical expertise many times in my job but I am struggling to make a jump in my salary at my current company. I have started to look for other jobs outside my company and found that I am being underpaid. How would you suggest going about this?

Very good channel!
I work in another field.
With all of the inflation in the economy, I am just exploring career possibilities.
This is probably not a common question, but is it possible to work in Cyber Security and have a desk where you are standing up? I don't like the idea of working while sitting down for several hours, as I have found being on my feet has been a healthier lifestyle for me.

I did the opposite, I started computer engineering and switched to computer science. I really enjoy building software so it was the perfect fit for me, but sometimes I do wonder what other jobs and professions are like.

I love your channel and insight into these fields. But let me make this input as a computer Scientist.

Computer science is the foundation for theoritical knowledge in any discipline that touches digital technologies of which Cyber Security, Computer Engineering are part. Infact, Cyber Security ( broadly and precisely refer to as DIGITAL SECURITY) is a branch of Computer Science.

Mathematics and Physics on the other hand are the foundations of Computer Science, especially Mathematics, and that's why you can do exceptionally good in your career as a Computer Scientist if you are good in maths.

Computer Engineering mainly focuses on Digital Designs and Implementation but you can't design a system if you don't understand the atomic variables, theories and laws, relationships guiding them. These information are solved or learned in Computer Science precisely under LOGICS.

In summary, when you have advanced in Computer Science beyond the walls of academic environment, you will discover that any Digital Technologies: Robotics, AI, Digital Forensics, Security, Hacking, Apps Dev., Etc all have their fundamentals in Computer Science.

Hello UnixGuy. I appreciate your effort and great videos. I am a newcomer in IT field. I want to be an ethical hacker in the future. So I want to attend a degree. Is CS or Cybersecurity better for me?

In my position the computer science department is horrendous at my college so i decided to do a computer engineering degree and I don’t regret it one bit. The engineering department even offers a minor in cyber security with ECE classes teaching networks and cyber security.

I'm in a computer science program where i was able to pick 30 credits worth of electives so i loaded up with cyber classes. I tought about going to sans institute bachelor's program as my job would pay for it as i want to do ICS/OT security but don't know if its worth it just to get the ICS certs.

There are programs in some universities that have cybersecurity within the computer science major, for example, the study units are 144 in total, 96 of them are related to computer science and its foundation, and 48 are related to cybersecurity. What do you think, do you recommend it or similar programs, or do I search for a bachelor's degree in cybersecurity? I hope to hear your opinion

How about combining cyber security and cloud Engineering? Do you know a specific role for that?
