7 years later and this is still impressive. Shows how shit roblox is for not updating the water system in so long though

I am impressed that the waves actually add their amplitudes to each other when crossing

Was about to write, "Cool, but it's just a vertex displacement shader, " and then realized this shit was made in Roblox.

The thing is ripples already exist, just not in the way we think. When you adjust water settings there is a mode for ripples, but it doesn’t interact with physics. There can be a more simpler way to add ripples. When an object falls into water, the ripples that already exist will move outward, instead of heavier waves like that. The downside to what has been made here is that it can lag the game a lot, especially if there are large bodies of water. What happens if two ripples touch eachother? Do they pass through eachother? What happens if a ripple touches a solid object? Does it rebound? Will the ripple ever end in an ocean? The possibilities are endless, which can make this very problematic.
